I will say it is the most bizarre thing to be in a large room with a bunch of old people getting that procedure. They're all ripping ass violently but no smell...if they prep right... and pretty much nobody is embarrassed because, well.

I guess whenever I have to get a colonoscopy I'll probably request a prescription for Suprep. Seems the least bad of the options.

Mine was four Dulcolax pills, then mixing 8 oz of Miralax with 64 oz of Gatorade. Starting at 6pm, I had to drink 8oz of the Gatorade every 15 minutes until it was gone.

I also have been able to consume nothing but clear liquids today, so I haven't eaten anything in over 24 hours. I've had a cup of coffee, two little cups of Jello, and some beef broth today

Oh, I'm cleaned out. I used blue Gatorade and there is blue liquid coming out the other end. There hasn't been anything remotely resembling poop in the bowl for at least 2 hours

I have a history of colon cancer on my dad's side of the family, including one uncle who died from it

Luckily you're knocked out for the actual procedure

I had one a few years ago after seeing dark red on more than one occasion. Scared myself silly but it turned out it was nothing serious. The prep is the actual bad part, I don't know what I was drinking but it was definitely prescription stuff and it was god damn awful. The procedure was a breeze, though. Good luck in any case.

Clenpiq (previously Prepopik) is the good shit.

If your GI suggests Golytely, set the garbage can on fire to let them know you aren't some fucking rube they can con.

Clenpiq is two 8 ounce glasses of fruit flavored water. It gets alarmingly warm while you stir it but it's honestly not bad.

Golytely is an entire fucking gallon of allegedly cherry flavored mucous, you're supposed to be sucking down a glass of it every fifteen minutes.

Past that, it's just a matter of staying hydrated.

White Grape Peach juice is a really good one for this that relatively few people drink.

is it just butt stuff or through da throat as well? i forget what da throat version is called

i had to do both last year, it wasn't dat bad tbh

Considering it's a very quick and well tolerated outpatient procedure that you get sedation from anesthesia with that not only screens for colon cancers, but also can remove polyps, essentially treating "pre cancer", or in other words, preventing the polyps from ever turning into cancer, I'd say it's a rather silly hill to die on.

I had gut surgery and had to drink that crap when I was very ill and wound up throwing it all upand that sucked even worse. Lol.

You're lucky. My last 2 colonoscopies they gave me this premixed stuff that tasted like a kid ate sweet tarts and vomited them back up. It was really hard to get it down and not throw it back up.

Sometimes it happens, I think it depends on the anesthesiologist. Like if they use propofol and you're awake there's something weird going on.

I had to get this (I think the more minor version) when in the process of ruling out colon cancer. It's really just uncomfortable above all else. The whole process including prep.

But for that slight window of time, it's kinda nice being knowingly "clean" inside.

They knocked me out at 9:10 am, I was already awake and getting dressed again at 9:45. Went straight to Starbucks to get a bacon breakfast sandwich and now I'm just chilling and playing video games.

Also, all clear diagnosis, no polyps. See you again in 5 years
