Well, we got into a fistfight when he sucker-punched my mother for disagreeing with him when he thought I was asleep. Our relationship was pretty much fucked from that point onward.

My mother, bless her, told me that when he was dying he'd said that he was proud I stood up for her, but I think that was a bit of a lie.

So, I suppose yes?

A few days ago was the nine year anniversary of his funeral. I still miss him. As my mum said at his wake at the local pub, "he was a bastard, but he was our bastard".

It's 9 years since he wheezed his last and I still have Daddy Issues and dreams where I'm in a slow-motion fight with him.

He denied it ever happened, afterwards. That's what really made me lose what respect I had for him, but I still loved him? I don't know. Daddy Issues. That was about 5 years before his Inevitable Demise due to Cancer of Unknown Primary.

At my best friend's 18th (who was also a family friend) he was crowing to all and sundry about how proud he was that I'd proven to be a "Rampant Heterosexual". In those exact words.

My best friend, and my girlfriend at the time both kinda went "yeah, nah".

Thanks to the far left, the culture is sufficiently shifted in this area that the left ironically can no longer just call the opposition gay, it was a useful tool once, but it's your own fault that it's gone.

Probably so. I was lucky in that while my dad didn't like me playing with girls toys, but never was a dick about it besides maybe a bit of lighthearted teasing.
