Seeing The Tudors mixed with Lord of the Rings didn't quite capture my imagination, as I was getting into Berserk & Souls at the time. My thoughts are perhaps I missed the boat on the books, and Tolkien downsized his own work for a reason

Certainly not the take I was expecting from the guy who was quite obviously critical of the final season while he was filming it.

As someone who generally hates fandoms and dunks on them with gleeful malice, I disagree. The show just ended really badly.

I think it was trash from the get-go but that's a different story.

pretty sure that part was supposed to be in jest, since the dialogue tag after it says he "joked", and the way he starts off his next sentence.

Yeah I didnt take it too seriously but to me I was mad about the opposite. Not enough people died in that final season

To be fair, if the ending was wildly successful he'd probably be starring in some kind of Tyrion themed spinoff prequel where he spend every episode drinking, sleeping with women, and being snarky. Instead he got to star in *checks imdb* The Angry Birds movie, Between Two Ferns, and The Croods: A new age.

So I imagine he's a bit bitter.
