Kinda want to play it but I remember the first one being frustratingly difficult near the end.

It's very good. Some people even say the game contains Nomura's best designed and written heroine ( though he wasn't the story lead, only the designer). My only qualm with it is that it leaves a number of plot lines open where they could do a prequel following certain events or a sequel to explore threads coming from the ending. This would not be a problem had it not been for the fact that we've waited over a decade for the sequel and Square couldn't be arsed to market the damn thing and had the gall to call the game a financial disappointment.

But the developers poured their heart into this game, it's a lot of fun and there's a lot more character interactions with subtle character development in play all the way through.

It's great. Improves on the original in most ways while also managing to translate the original's battle system to something more suited for buttons and 3D camera.

I tried the demo going in wanting to hate it because you know, square Enix, but it surprised me.

First one considered difficult? Man that takes me back. I became an expert at that game after putting in hundreds of hours, but at the cost of my DS screen being permanently scratched.

it's great, though admittedly it kinda feels like a whole game was skipped. I wish we had a Torna-like DLC story to cover that
