I've heard that he has really bad ADHD and is a lot more subdued in real life. Also he's actually really knowledgeable about cooking but that doesn't translate to his shows because they want him to be really loud and boisterous not a technical cooking master

Honestly, that translates just fine to me. That is to say, he seems like he knows his stuff in his shows.

Well yeah he does but his knowledge of cooking isn't the focus of his shows, it's his personality

This is most actors I think. Who'd wanna keep up with performance level energy 24/7 and who'd wanna be around that.

I went to a restaurant in Manteo, NC that he endorsed, and it sucked. Thats the only experience I have with him lol.

Maybe on DDD, and even then I would say that the focus is more about the other chefs. But his skills and knowledge are often on display, and it's kind of why his opinion matters to them.

Yea on his show you can tell he knows a lot he just holds back and lets the chef talk about their dishes. But sometimes hell add to their explanations or give the why behind why the chefs are doing something specific that will add to the cooking.

He does a lot of awesome charity work and overall he seems like a really cool dude.

People hate on him because his style is trash.

GGG is all about Guy being goofy and putting the contestants through wacky mini games. There's high level cooking too but I'd say it takes a backseat to Guys antics. DDD is a bit more straightforward and focused on the cooking, and his knowledge shines through a bit more. But I'd still say that the appeal to watching Guys show is Guy himself, not the fact that he has elite cooking credentials.

I thought it was public knowledge that outside of the character he plays, he's an amazing person who spends most of his time doing charity stuff.

His skill isn't the focus, but game recognize game, and that's a significant factor in his work.
