In the MTV Spider-Man show, Electro -- one of Peter's classmates -- straights up kills his bully who was a recurring side character for a few episodes and they go to his funeral and shit.

Shit was metal.

I really liked the Ms Marvel comic that sort of played with this. I think it was the last one of G. Willow Wilson's original run.

Basically it's like, "Kamala Kahn, your dad is in the hospital! He had a heart attack!" and she's rushing over there and you think it's gonna do the same old "superheroes can never be happy, even if they do everything right, the people they love still keep dying from unrelated banal tragedies" thing.

Then the comic ends and it turns out the dad recovered and is doing fine, sometimes life actually does throw you a bone and good things can happen to good people.
