I doubt Bayonetta has permadeath. Song of Horror is supposed to be this "atmospheric" horror experience, so they added perma-death of the characters to each chapter (5 total). The problem is the game has BS QTEs you don't even get to practice. The game also has a never-ending series of "put your hand in here?" prompts that either insta-kill you or give you an item for a puzzle you're supposed to solve and the only way to know if you're safe or not is in retrospect.
