22 y/o Former Head Heifer Volleyball Iowa Coach, Brycelyn Haughey is charged with having SEX and sending sexually explicit photos to a 17 y/o boy whom she met at 21 after he accidentally BACKED into her CAR!!

She faces a massive 20 years in the big house on 4 counts of sexual exploitation of a school employee after she was accused of having a months long relationship with a 17 y/o back in 2020 as the boy is now 18.

She attended Kirkwood Community College and Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids and was completing her studies at Buena Vista University when she was hired at the rural Iowa school district in July 2020

The 17 y/o backed into her car in the school parking lot in Sept of that year and they exchanged numbers because he was supposed to fix her car as he knew a thing or 2 about "fixing vehicles"

The student told her he was 17 and Brycelyn then asked if he was a senior and he said "no, i'm a junior" and she had said "close enough"

He started getting flirting texts from her and he just went with it cause he thought she was joking around

He went to her house on Sept 25 when they began drinking with a girl who was already there and was younger than him and that was when they had sex as they continued to meet and drink and have sex before they ended it a couple months later.

The male student said he received several seductive photos of her including one of her NAKED

One of his friends also contends he saw the picture after he SHARED it to him

The age of consent is 16 in Iowa but people in positions of authority who have sex with youngsters of 16-18 in their car can be charged with sex crimes

She left her coaching job at the Green Montain Garwin School District to take on another peschool and special ed paraprofessional job but then resigned that one

The district said they will continue to follow its policies and procedures including cooperating with law enforcement

No. I felt her leg up and down once when she walked past me and she hit me. She put her foot down out of necessity. but one day I saw her crying before class and felt extremely bad and guilty and stopped being such an asshole, we actually became good friends since that day.

22 / 17 doesn't seem problematic at all to me. On the legal side it's legal in most of the world; on the moral side they're pretty damn close in age. I could see an issue if he was specifically one of her students but it doesn't sound like that's the case?

The bigger issue would be the power abuse rather than the age.

Nope, not his teacher. But she was still a faculty member at the school, which is why she's being charged with four counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee.

Each count has a maximum sentence of 5 years, so she could face up to 20 years (Topic title makes it sound like she's already been sentenced to 20 years, which isn't the case).
