There is a narratives that if Republicans get in charge, they will institute fascism. This idea is commonly predicated on the idea that Democrats in charge = no fascism and no Republican agenda. I am asking poll responders, in good faith, if they really believe Democrats being in charge means that the fascism part doesn't happen anyway. Are you sure you are at a reading level appropriate to this topic?

If Republicans manage to take the 2024 Presidential election and take back the House next year, I'd say it's a real possibility.

if you think "facism" is happening around you right now, how are the democrats stopping it? Was January 6th a modern beer hall putsch? People are getting off with light, or even no, jail time for it at a very slow pace. Is the removal of voting rights your idea of facism? Democrats aren't actively pursuing to remove them, but they are also not pushing anywhere near as hard as Republicans are as they aggressively redistrict and pass new legislation to make it harder to vote. Is the current state of the supreme court going to lead to facism? No expansion is going to occur and any lateral legislative action like repealing the filibuster or the use of executive actions are either not happening or being used very conservatively.

I have no idea how anyone who thinks the republican party is about to enact facism in this country does the epic BoTh SiDeS routine or still manages to chant about still being better than trump while they watch the democrats squabble and do nothing while policy continues to march us on into oblivion. I assume the answer is most people don't believe that because if they did there would be a lot more grassroots reaction going on unless you have the survival instincts of lemmings and are looking to spend your final days before the violent regime crying on CE

They at least kick the can further down the road, which is the best option we have atm.

Republicans in power plus the coming climate migrant crisis will almost 100% tilt us into fascism.

Fascism doesnt get stopped by reaching across the aisle so if the Republicans are trying to institute fascism as some people say, then no the Democratic Party alone would not provide an effective bulwark against fascism.

On the contrary, liberal democracy has a huge problem with fascism creeping up, and with liberal democracy having very few real means of stopping it, since their whole thing is letting people do what they want and trusting in the system (the same one that lets fascists speak) to keep things in check.
