If I were you, I'd ask myself one question: What type of rpg do I like? Is it turn-based like Final Fantasy? Is it arena based like Star Ocean or Tales of Arise? maybe you prefer open world rpgs like Skyrim or Witcher. Once you answer that question, we can probably help you out more. 1-10 are very similar in style, 12 aims more towards 11s MMO style, 13 we don't talk about, and 15 is action rpg done poorly (the story I mean, the combat is alright). Believe it or not, Final Fantasy is just one style of turn-based combat. There are at least a dozen with their own unique interpretations. Shadow Hearts has the Judgement Ring, Legend of Dragoon has the timing critical strikes, and Legaia 2 uses different button combinations to form chain attacks. Some moves have longer/shorter recovery, so learning to manipulate the turn order is a big part of the gameplay. Not to mention that since you can see the order of who is attacking, you can focus on trying to shut down the next enemy to attack. Summons are also quite different. Your team leaves the battlefield and the summon comes in, with you in full control of their actions until you choose to dismiss them. Another big point is that your party can use their turn to swap members, so you bring in Wakka for the flying mob, Lulu for the one weak to magic, and Auron for the guy with crazy high defense. --- The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. teep_ 12/29/21 4:16:52 AM #13:	I'm playing through 10 rn (though I'm currently on a break from it for VLR). It's definitely a different system to the other FFs I've played. It's close to a pure turn based system like DQ, but with an emphasis on swapping out characters in the middle of battles depending on how you need to hit your enemy. Every character/enemy gets a turn in a set order and the game doesn't move forward until they act. Actions can change the order of turns, such as using delay attacks on enemies. In practice you don't actually need that much strategy to beat it, but it's still a neat system. I'd definitely say X and X-2 have the best/Most interesting gameplay on the Switch, though I haven't played World of FF. FF8 Junctioning "gameplay" is kind of interesting I guess, though I'm not a fan. Basically, if you play TT enough, you will never have a single issue getting through any fights. There's no reason to ~~have Quetzacotl learn Card Mod. Played it on release, and did learn that card modding was a good way to get upgrade materials. What I didn't pay attention to was the fact that not leveling up in this game makes you more powerful. Kept grinding on T-rexs in Garden and was annoyed that I never hit a point where I could just mop the floor with them. Then there was the terror when I realized that having everybody at level 100 is terrible when a random mob casts lvl 5 death. --- The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
