I realllly want to play Inscryption.

I have Death's Door, and while I've only played a little bit, I think it's good.

I did not expect to like Loop Hero as much as I do.

Hmm... I think Inscryption deserves #1, and #2 should be Skul, then The Ascent.

But overall, that's a good top 10.

Although Death's Door has a lot of soul and is exceptional, it barely had any advertisement and I think had a lesser impact.

It surprises me that it seems like a lot of people like ascent when the reviews dont even hit 80% positive.

I can see how he missed that one, it only just came out of early access, for deckbuilders I think Inscryption stole the spotlight.

The deckbuilder I am more surprised got no mention is Griftlands.

And someone in the PC version of this topic said that this wasnt a good year for indie games XD

Top indie game this year for me was Aeterna Noctis. I just bought Ender Lilies during the Steam sale so I'm thinking of starting that up soon. Had Pocket Dungeon not released during December I probably would've bought that day one. Local co-op Ascent on a standard Xbone was an absolute garbage experience though. Like it's probably the worst game I played this year, plus there's too much walking and useless enemies to fight because of the tacked on RPG mechanics.

You know what is actually cool about talking about our favorite Indies?

Unlike talking about your favorite AAA games, when we talk about these Indie games, the word of mouth is actually helping many of these games get more attention. I need the great games here to do well enough so that their development teams can afford to make another game.

Its really been cool over the years to see specific Indie teams reach basically god tier in the world of Indie gaming, such as Klei (Dont Starve, Mark of the Ninja, Oxygen Not Included, Griftlands) and Supergiant Games (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, Hades). Team Cherry could join these ranks if Silksong does just as well as it did with Hollow Knight and they continue developing after that. If Subset games can make another game on par with FTL and Into the Breach they will also be up there.

Then you have a Publisher like Devolver Digital helping Indie devs pump out new titles like a conveyor belt. Its amazing how many amazing Indies have been published by them: Inscryption, Death's Door, Loop Hero, Carrion, My Friend Pedro, Katana Zero, Enter the Gungeon, Hotline Miami 1/2, Gris and some smaller titles which were still great like Ape Out, Gential Jousting (lol), The Messenger and The Talos Principle.

Is Cyber Shadow the one on Game Pass? I tried it out for a bit and didn't get into it

Too bad I keep hearing bad things about Cyber Shadow, it was the first game published by Shovel Knight Devs which was not made by them.

I liked Cyber Shadow fwiw. Not sure I'd call it unpolished when I didn't have any trouble with performance or anything, but it did feel pretty hard at times. I would've had more fun with it if you unlocked the dash way earlier in the game.
