At work I'm one of around 5-6 people still wearing a mask

Dang half of work had to shut down, there was only 3 employees left so they sent the whole department home

Half my extended family got it right before Christmas in different parts of Ohio.

I know a few people in Ohio who now have covid, it's going to be a rough January if not the whole winter for Ohioans.

My entire Facebook feed is FULL of people asking where they can find a test, who they can buy one off of, etc

For a second there I thought Ohio had a town named Jesus Christ

I'm in Florida. When I got tested 2 weeks before Christmas, there was no one in line at the testing site. I basically just went in, 5 minutes, then left and got my results 30 minutes later.

Yesterday my wife went to get tested at the same place and the line of cars was all the way around the parking lot and spilling out into the road. It was still that way when I passed by on my way home 7 hours later.

People dun fucked up at Christmas, they're gonna fuck up for New Years, and we may be locked down again

I dont see the country shutting down again, but something needs to happen for sure

don't worry, the cdc will recommend that anyone infected with covid just do "strict mask wearing" and report to their jobs so there won't be a need for any shutdown or more stimulus checks.

We live in a blue state, my mom has a friend whose family had a get together for Christmas Eve. Everyone vaccinated but booster status unknown. Out of 25, 5 already tested positive for Covid.

My mom saw this friend on Monday and they went to a class at the gym so until 5 days and a negative Covid test pass Im not letting my kids go over to her house. Because I just want to be careful.

this is a generalization, but I feel like we fucked ourselves.

half of the population still isnt vaccinated. The ones that arent vaccinated dont care about the masks.

People sat on unemployment for over a year just because they could, and would again given the chance.

in California it's nearly 50k today. Crazy. Everywhere is spiking. But I'm not surprised.

10k for MD, with pretty high hospitalizations as well. Worryingly past some earlier projections for us

New Mexico had just shy of 800 on the most recent daily I've seen.

I'm in Texas. Going back to work for the first time next week since Omicron took off.

Given my line of work, I'm assuming it's a guarantee I'll catch it at some point in January; probably first week. Man I fucking hate it.

Theres a good argument to go out and get Omicron within 6 months of a vaccine shot

Get data hybrid immunity while your body is best able to handle it

Hopefully they're prioritizing hospital beds and care to patients who had the vaccine instead of giving them to antivaxxers.

Yeah, it looks like a lot of states are beating their previous records from last year for new cases. At least the deaths aren't also at last year's levels

There will be bodies being burned in the street before we consider going back to even the barest minimum precautions similar to the start of the pandemic.
