Lol. They should've just put the money they used on those movies into their animated universe and expanded it instead of trying to copy Marvel

I recently watched Batman v Superman again cause I'm a masochist and there are so many things wrong with it but the thing I hated most was the way they made Luthor a manic lunatic. It's not even that he was played by Jesse Eisenberg which was definitely a bad choice it's that they fucked his character up

Honestly it's very disappointing they fucked up everything so fast just trying to catch up with Marvel even though they had far compelling source materials to work with.

And they're still fucking it up bringing back another Wonder Woman flick and Keanu Constantine, not the current tv/DCAU version, fuck.

Superman is boring, the comics are boring.

DCs biggest issue is too many of their heros are too powerful and giving them challenges is convoluted and dumb.

Batman is all they got.

Name a great Superman story arc,

The "alt" stories tend to be better, yes, but both his Rebirth runs (Action Comics and Superman) were great.

Morrison's New 52 run started really good, too. Between that and Superman Smashes The Klan, I don't know why DC doesn't go all in and make a dedicated "low-power, golden age" style Superman universe. Just make it its own thing like how Ultimate Spider-Man used to be. "Champion of the Oppressed" Superman needs to make a comeback.

Tbh I don't really see the issue outside of maybe Cavill being ditched as Superman but I'd need to see what the explanation there is.

Outside of that I thought people had been speculating for years they'd use Flashpoint to 'fix' the DCEU.

The problem with DC is the same problem Warner Bros. has had with every other franchise movie they've up lately. They rely too much on brand recognition, and not enough on quality.

It's why they've largely played it extremely safe with the DCEU until recently.

It's sad that Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad are actually good but flopped and got ignored.

It's a really weird brand in general.

I think The Batman will end up being a huge hit. I'm excited for that little universe more than anything else they've done.

I think bringing back Keaton is probably pretty good. But they really need to keep that aesthetic of Gotham City to really make it mean anything. The DCEU should really lean into its own style a lot more. Gotham and Metropolis should look rather fantastical.

And now that No Way Home beat them to the whole "multiverse" punch and The Flash will probably end up being a worse version of that, idk.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of BoP and The Suicide Squad and it's a shame they weren't big hits like their other movies because that's definitely more the direction I want to see the DC movies go in (along with Shazam). More focus on good, self-contained stories and less focus on trying to set up for the next big event movie.

And yeah, I'm very excited for The Batman and think it will be an excellent movie. But I have my doubts that WB won't just run it to the ground.

The weird thing is that seems to be what they're mostly doing. Like the leaks about the Flashpoint just seem to be setting up...Batgirl? But then why did we even need Flashpoint? I don't think people even care about the DCEU as an interconnected universe anymore. They could have started with Batgirl with the returning Keaton no problem.

Another funny thing I just remembered. I'm pretty sure the rumors of this being a multiverse movie predate the rumors for Spider-man being one.

They're still desperately trying to hold onto the DCEU it seems. Which, fine. But they're not doing any of the legwork to make this all actually fit together.

It's just insane to me how Disney/Marvel can fit together elements of the MCU with elements from other Sony Spider-Man movies so well that it almost feels like it was part of the plan, meanwhile Warner Bros. can't figure out how to fit together characters from IPs that they own all the rights to.

Dude....this shit should be so fucking easy for them. Flashpoint is such a slam dunk way for them to reboot their universe and build it from the ground up properly but they just have no vision beyond throwing recognizable characters and storylines at us and hoping that it's enough.

Chances are they're going to do a reboot and do the exact same shit they did before that turned people off to this universe in the first place.

It's because they listened to people like you that don't read, like, or ever cared about comics is why the DCUE ended up in the sorry state that it's in now.

Which seems will continue for the near future. The flash movie looks like a clusterfuck. Even ignoring its intent to reboot the universe which seems to be all the flash is good for to creators. And a bunch of super high risk and questionable decisions that seem completely rushed and unearned.

The Flash was introduced in the DCEU like 6 years ago and hasn't had a movie yet. Yet his first movie is still going to be Flashpoint.

It's kinda doomed from the start I think.

Just make some good movies that people like first. Worry about Flashpoint and crossing them over when you already know people like these characters.

I don't get why that's where they keep fucking up. Even the CW shows managed to do this fine.

DCEU has technically been around for nearly 9 years now. At this point Marvel had the entire Iron Man trilogy, two Avengers movies, Civil War and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's nuts.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Fuck no. His entire vision of the DCEU is why it was doomed from the start. Even JL (which was fine but nothing special) didn't really redeem it.

I don't know if Snyder is the right move either. I did quite enjoy ZSJL (though it was a bit bloated), but I just don't think he quite understands the characters.

But I might be biased because I'm a big Superman fan and Zack Snyder doesn't seem to like Superman all that much.

No he was a major problem. All of this sounds like total shit. That tease at the end of ZSJL was total shit.

ZSJL was still pretty mediocre compared to most MCU movies. It's way too fucking long. This is meant to be a main event movie.

Also I'm pretty sure it was his idea to go straight to Batman for Man of Steel 2.

Snyder is good at filming action scenes. Keep him far away from creative decisions. All of the major issues that fucked up the DCEU can be traced back to both Man of Steel and BvS.

The thing that makes me the most sad is that Superman: The Motion Picture, Batman 89, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are not only great adaptations of superheroes they're all some of the most influential blockbusters of all time.

Then when the MCU nails it they end up learning the wrong lessons.

I hope that The Batman lives up the hype. Joker did so there's hope.
