FF13 is a great game that shouldn't have the Final Fantasy name attached to it. People have came to expect certain things from Final Fantasy over the decades and FF13 basically challenged the norms on all of that to polarizing results.

Breath of the Wild is a boring, empty game that only stands by on its title and legacy characters. Reskin the game and strip it of all things Zelda related and you're left with a game thats shallow and a mostly dull world outside of main quest areas. Most of the game map is forgettable and unnecessary, simply boasting a large open world for the sake of it.

Unfortunately for FF13, despite being a great game its namesake led to salty fans and a mixed reception by daring to venture from the franchise. BotW is lifeless and shallow and only stands because of its name.

yes botw is awful and i guarantee if it were reskinned and under a different name it would absolutely get torn apart

I think you just don't like open spaces? FF13 is the longest hallway ever, which explains your tastes. Claustrophiliac.

Ight, let's not act crazy here.

Yeah, it def gets extra attention for the name brand recognition, but it's also a fun game in general.

FF13 is a average game by its own right. By the time of its release, the Final Fantasy series had already lost its luster.

Dont get me started on Zelda though, I think pretty much all those games are incredibly overrated possibly because of the stated reason.

I've only played a little of Final Fantasy XIII, but from my experience, I disagree about it being a good game.

I had no significant attachment or experience with the Final Fantasy series, outside of sometimes watching my brother play VII and him being a big fan of VIII, so I thought that I'd let XIII be my first real step into the series.

IMO, the gameplay wasn't fun, and the extreme linearity turned me off (as well as the anime-like characters and dialogue).

maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like not as many people, like me, would have given it a chance if it wasn't a Final Fantasy.

as far as BotW goes, I think it's a great game, and I feel that I would honestly have enjoyed it if it wasn't a Legend of Zelda.

I liked FF 13 when I played it

Then I played FF10 and realised it was better in almost every single way

Nothing changes that FFXIII is a poorly written and directed product. Even then, the gameplay has hard progression caps all over the place and a crafting/weapon upgrade system that you have to look up spreadsheets to make any sense of.

The cherry on top of the masterpiece that is BotW is how it inspires nerd rage on the internet. Keep those essays flowing, guys.
