I've never used it because the only thing I would have interest in is buying weed and I can do that at a dispensary but I was always curious if they even give a fuck if you buy that if it's legal where you live

Basically Dark or Deep Web stuff...sites that not indexed to show up on 'Normal' (or 'Clearnet' as they like to call it) Internet Browsers (Chrome, IE, etc)

Aside from what you mentioned, many also go there to get hacked Passwords, Stolen CC info, etc

if someone is delivering it to you locally, no, no one cares

but most of the time those people try and send it in the mail which, y'know, never works out for them.

if people are wire tapping you, use tor
it should prevent them from warning the guy about to set the building on fire

Literally not how things work anymore.
Data is collected and requested by the government.
Doesn't matter if it's encrypted or not. They have access to it if they want.

vpns don't prevent your isp from keeping track of you either, btw.

you're still using your own connection, everything you're looking at is going through them no matter what. it makes no difference if the website at the end thinks you're accessing them from russia or canada, the end point is you, and how it gets back to you is...your isp.

VPNs only protect data in flight as well.
