I did not enjoy much of the character's portrayal from Mandalorian, especially towards the end when he essentially becomes one of "the boys" - aiding in Mando's mission to recover Baby Yoda. I liked the first few shots of the refurbished armor. The introduction of the character also seemed, well, out of character from what we know of him in Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and even the prequel films (which were obviously not part of Boba Fett's original bio)...

... Anyone else feel the same way & ended up enjoying (or disliking) Book of Boba Fett? Does it pick up later on or start strong & taper off?

Just fall flat?

What's the story?

I guess having a benevolent Boba is a nice holdover until Mando S3?

His personality in book of Boba Fett is probably the worst part of the show so far, unfortunately.

He feels almost like...an isekai protagonist? He's just really really weird.

Seems unavoidable

Should have been another Jango clone impersonating Boba Fett, or a similar story

The first season of Mandalorian is the best thing Star Wars has kicked out in live-action since The Empire Strikes Back. You're talking about a cultural phenomenon here. The puppetry (not CGI) is solid. Lots of stormtroopers get straight-up wasted on screen. The pacing of the narrative is rather unique for the genre. The score is great. It's a space western through & through.

Season 2 goes back a little more to the seven samurai formula, but the payoff was worth it with Luke appearing at the end. I cant complain about the fight scenes either. Seeing the character in a more traditional Star Wars light is important, and honestly the stories & episodes (for the most part) were amazing. I love that water world. Seemed more like S2 was more about Baby Yoda, and I'm glad they didn't pull any punches. It wraps up season 1 perfectly. I did prefer S1 by a margin tho.

On topic? I remember Boba Fett as being a gangster pretty thoroughly, with a very thin code of honor, and as a guy who was mostly just concerned with money. He was simultaneously impressed by others willing to risk their lives and yet had zero problems with taking a life. He was willing to accept payment from Vader if his bounty (Han Solo) was "damaged" during the carbon-freezing procedure. He also displayed an attraction to the slave dancer girls in Jabba's palace. I didn't get the sense that the guy we saw in Mandalorian was capable of ANY of that.

from what i get, mando/BoBF Boba is more enjoyable if you are ok wit characterizing Boba in your head more akin to his sensitive side we see in Episode 2 and TCW series. he is not super hard-assed in mando/BOBF, so far.

To be fair,

Lando also pulled some shit in TESB, so maybe Boba was mostly just putting on a show for Vader & Jabba to get paid. Also, although I'm not super nuts about the preauels, it must be very exciting and fulfilling for prequel fans in general to see Boba Fett done in this way .... And it does technically fit in perfectly with the lore for a more sympathetic Boba who was a perfect clone of Jango (they even got the original actor back). S1 seemed more for TESB fans, while S2 seemed clearly geared at CloneWars fans. I'm fine with it. Tbh. We can all agree on The Mandalorian now. I don't think they ruined it at all.

(:

Simply put, the guy who shows up in The Mandalorian has been through more shit than the guy we were introduced to in Empire Strikes Back.

I feel like that's kind of the point of The Book of Boba Fett. It feels like the flashbacks being shown are showing some of the shit he's gone through since Episode 6 but before we see him Mandalorian S2. It feels like they may be coming to an end, but I could see them playing a big part in the whole series.

Without spoiling too much, about half of the scenes in the episodes of Book of Boba Fett that have been released so far have been flashbacks, picking up from where we left off in Return of the Jedi.

Worth it imo, I liked the first two episodes. Won't hurt to try, at least.

*Minor Spoiler*

Black Krrsantan being in it adds an interesting future dynamic to it imo.

I read about that in the other thread. It did add more allure.

Well, shit, brother, I'm not afraid it's gonna bite me. Hey, even if it sucks, maybe that'll add something to my enjoyment of Kenobi, potentially. A weak first act is pretty common trick to make everything else seem amazing. Kinda like the opposite of games in the 00's... Where the tutorial/lvl 1 makes everything else look like dogtrash. Y'know? XD

You don't need examples.

That's what I was wanting to hear.

Okay. I am officially ready to go in with proper expectations. The fandom has succeeded here! Thank you all!

Sup, preax

Popping back in to say I rather enjoyed the first episode. It's definitely not on par with The Mandalorian overall, and that's okay. There's a strong chance she picks up later on as the season progresses. Jango's take on Boba Fett definitely falls flat a little here, but as others have pointed out, he seems to have spent many years wandering without his armor. His behavior in the Tusken camp was much more in line with what I expect from the character, including a 'hissing' inflection. Curious to see how this all goes down!

One of the big highlights for me is that Clash of the Titans-looking monster they run into while digging for water. Looks straight out of the 70's/80's lol
