I found Hades to be relatively average on the difficulty scale, and definitely easier than any From Software game I have played. Returnal was also harder in terms of roguelikes (but still not as bad as I expected).

I also don't think the Souls game are as hard as some make it out to be, but "extremely easy"? BTW, I would say both Bloodborne and especially Sekiro are harder.

dark souls really wasnt hard at all. Again, the difficulty was overhyped. Someone said not to bring up old games, but kingdom hearts 2 was more difficult

Sounds like a perfect combination of things to me. I always try Skyrim but after a few hour I give up cause the combat is just so damn boring.

This is true. I think Dark Souls is hard for modern games. If I can beat it with steady progression and not being stuck in one place for too long, then it is certainly easier than a lot of old school stuff.

Yes, I am arguing two seemingly conflicting things at once between my posts.

I'd say it's more fair to call Dark Souls a series with a high learning curve. They can be difficult to figure out at first, but once you get a feel for how combat (meaning "rolling") works, they're not really hard.

You missed the point of my post. It doesnt matter what I or other people find difficult. People are saying that elden ring will be the perfect game because it combines Skyrim with dark souls. I guarantee that the vast majority think Dark Souls is harder than Hades, so your last sentence is a minority opinion and therefore meaningless as an objective argument. It is only meaningful as your personal preference, which is fine.

A lot of those games originated as arcade games that were made to eat up the $5 Jimmy's mom gave him for the arcade. Plus games had space and hardware limitations, so they were made more difficult to artificialize the length of the game so people would feel like they were getting their money's worth.

Just because games were made insanely difficult for stupid and unfair reasons back then doesn't mean a modern game that designs the difficulty as part of the experience can't be called hard.

This is fact. Also, to be clear, I don't want 80s style difficulty. I don't have the patience for that like I did as a kid. I like Dark Souls level (or Returnal for something I played recently), where steady progression and practice will get you through it.

Dark Souls is harder than Hades. I assume you're just weirdly bad at what's one of the most casual roguelikes, good at one of the Dark Souls, or you got carried by an easy build in the latter. If you're really not trolling your lack of gaming skills then I don't know what to say about your unique view on difficulty. Also Hades has difficulty settings, so anyone who doesn't bother to learn or git gud can just toggle that on and pass it eventually. Fromsoft has yet to cave in to casuals, and that's part of why they have their reputation as hard games.

Lol I don't think you misunderstood anything or owe an apology. I just think our opinions are skewed differently in terms of how relativity affects the relevance of a game's difficulty.

I almost feel like this topic MUST be trolling.

Also, wait until you've played the game to claim that it's this and that combined.

I've played the network test, and I'll tell you that it is definitely not skyrim and dark souls combined. It was more like a bit of bloodborne and sekiro, mixed with all of darksouls, then mixed with Witcher 3 plus more.

I'd say that there is actually not very much in common with skyrim at all. Maybe some things that most open world games have but that's about it honestly. It's definitely something new, even if it feels very similar in some spots.

Also, the difficulty is rather higher than you might think. Especially as you go on. The enemy difficulty goes up a lot faster than other souls games imo. Once you think you have figured stuff out, you'll be facing even stronger and stronger enemies. I'd say the difficulty is up there around or above ds3-sekiro. It's harder than bloodborne imo too.

It's probably the best game I've played so Far, even being a network test.
