Did you like the show Lost?

Shit was good until about the fourth season. You knew they were making it up as they went along.

Yes. I was late to the party though. The first episode I saw was in season 3 or 4. Just happened to get a chance to watch an episode. Was really intrigued by what I saw so I bought the first couple seasons on DVD and thought it was fantastic.

Unfortunately, by the time I caught up to where I had first seen, the next season was also airing and was already going downhill. Stuck with it till the end though.

They always were, from the very beginning. Allegedly it was the pet project of some executive and nobody actually working on it wanted to be there.

Anyways it was pretty good. Season 3 was when the writer strike happened and suddenly everyone cares about getting pregnant on the island. And then I think season 5 or 6 had a girl fucking die because of time travel allergies.
I liked it a lot at first but grew to hate it by the end.

They utterly tanked the finale. It was good up until the final season. Thats when it belly flopped harder than that video of the guy diving into a frozen pool.

Let me ask you this... how did a single thing the monster do make sense? Like a single thing. Why did it kill a single person? Even in the first episode, wants to get off the island so it kills the pilot. Absolutely nothing about the shows mythology makes sense.

Trying to kill Jack early on by running him off a cliff was a good idea. It would've been able to take control of the entire group of people and stop whatever Jacob had planned.

I can tell you the exact moment the show went off the rails and was unrecoverable. The moment Ben strangles Locke. That was the moment when characterization just didnt matter anymore. Bens motivation didnt matter. Jacobs motivation didnt matter. The monsters motivation didnt matter.

Why didnt it just pick him up and slam him into the ground then?

Still makes me chuckle to this day how some people completely didnt understand the ending.

Idk, at that point we hadn't actually seen it yet I think. Plot convenience, also to have Jack survive probably. Doubt he could've survived being mauled by it.

The final season was garbage. The 5th season wasn't that great either. It was basically GoT before GoT.

Because he's not allowed to do that, but if Jack were to fall and die on his own, that would have been okay.

The whole final season is garbage. I mean, you realize that 50% of the season doesnt even matter. The flash sideways or whatever we use to call them dont even matter. That entire plot line is utterly pointless to the show once you find out its just their shared limbo. You could remove 50% of that season and it wouldnt affect the plot at all. Its literally just filler. It adds nothing to the story.

Another problem with the show is the way it just dumped characters when it got tired of them. Its utterly hilarious that they killed off like 90% of the crash survivors with flaming arrows on the beach. Jack was the most incompetent leader of all time since only like around 7 crash survivors didnt die. And then in the final season theyre like, eh. Were done with Jin, Sun, and Syaid. Just blow em up or something.

This was the biggest thing that I hated about the show. Killing off characters because they fulfilled their purpose . This could be a major character like Michael. HE can't die until he does something. Then it was small characters like the only person who knew how TNT works. Lives just long enough to help the main characters then he dies. I can't remember his name (the singer) but , he kills himself when he had time to get out of the bunker and close the door. And Jin and Sun. Ass holes you have fucking kid, who is with an abusive grandparent you just going to kill yourselves.

Didn't help that the actor wanted off the show too. Probably why they had to include the whole Jacob's touch later on to get around this regarding the candidates.

The MIB tested him, and he failed that test so he was no longer a candidate, and so he could kill him.

Yeah. It's always easier to make the first seasons of these sorts of shows than when you have to actually resolve the mysteries.

That opening scene though was pretty awesome.

Seasons 1, 2, and arguably 3 are great. After that, I'm not 100% interested in rewatching the rest of the show. What it is though is worth discussing. Lost has a LOT more substance than most other series at the time, and was a direct influence on the level of cohesion we now expect from a long-running sci-fi mystery drama

Yeah, good way of summarizing the feel. It was torture.

I stopped watching around when the time travel arc was happening, then came back just for the finale. And yeah, super unsatisfying conclusion that completely went against what the writers promised they wouldn't do. I still feel like a good portion of the show is still up in the air or hasn't been explained properly and it's completely down to poor writing/writing by the seat of their pants on a per episode basis.
