They're only horrible when someone takes them seriously. I'm terrible at pool, so I only like it as a means of just doing something while we talk and drink. If you just say you're not in the mood and leave it at that, they can say whatever they're gonna say and you just don't gotta play into it. I've never struggled with ending back and fourths by doing this. You can only respond to dead air so long. In the end, nobody you should care about will judge you for not playing a game.
