i bring this up because i have read many articles which seem to suggest that as a person's intelligence or education levels increase that their belief in religion tends to go down...

...you haven't read, similar? If you don't believe me you can just do a quick google search of the subject

well roughly twice as many men identify as atheist, so what exactly are you saying, TC? And let's be honest, the difference is really greater than that, because a lot of dudes act like christians to appease their gfs and wives.

Most people who actually study the history of their religion or others aren't going to continue practicing it.

Correlation between education and religion a d correlation between men and religion does not create correlation between men and education...

I don't think I know anybody "super smart". Hell, I don't think I know any "super religious" people either.

But I know plenty of normally smart people, including plenty of normally religious people.

education=/=intelligence

also, you're wrong. If atheists have higher intelligence, and way more atheists are men, that means men have a higher intelligence.

Disclaimer: I'm not claiming this, it's tc.

I suppose you could argue that the intelligence of a religious man is so ultra low that it drives down the average intelligence of men, but the median intelligence of men would still be higher.

Like in actual statistics though, that's not how correlation works

i get that you really want to say that religious people are dummies, and you accept that more women are religious, so you have to accuse others of being wrong without any evidence or explanation. That is your right, but spreading misinformation may be against the community guidelines. Tread carefully.

Academic proficiency is not an indication of intelligence. You can memorize an encyclopedia and still be a complete idiot. True intelligence requires a sense of humility and the ability to accept that we will never have all the answers. Any claims about dismissing the possibility of a higher plane of existence is a demonstration of ignorance. We have five senses that allow us to study our world. It's sheer arrogance to assume these are the only tools needed to make definite declarations regarding the mysteries of space and time.

neither has value if you can't make it work for you. 20 years ago you'd be called anti-science and toxic masculine if you didn't want to take the "non-addictive" oxycontins the doctor wanted you to take. What lesson can we learn from that?

This. The difference between the religious and non religious people I know is not noticable until you get into that specific topic. Anytime someone tries to make an insanely large group seem all equally dumb, it comes off as someone just trying to put themselves above others whereever they can. They'll just find whatever content helps them go "Yup, knew it. I'm smarter than all them". Because if they wanted to find content of the peole being smarter than them, they also could easily do that.
