Fight each other? At least by the usage of weapons.

There's one shitty episode of Star Trek that has always inspired my imagination. They go to a crappy planet of hippies that's full of resources. Then Klingons turn up and are like "Aww yeah, gonna get me some of dat!" and Kirk is like "Oh shit, dem klingons gon fuck you up! You better agree to join our federation so we can fight them for you"

And it becomes a weird game of Kirk trying to convince the Hippies to let them fight the Klingons and the Klingons threatening to kill everyone as the Hippies refuse to use violence even as the Klingons massacre them.

Then the twist at the end is that the hippes are actually super advanced alien life beings who don't really have a physical form (they were just pretending too for literally no reason) because they are so far evolved beyond us.

So then they make all the weapons and computer consoles super duper hot so neither the Klingons or Humans can use them and it forces them both into an unwanted peace due to a literal inability to kill each other.

The moral is about how it's wrong to assume violence is the correct solution to a problem just because you're morally better than the otherside..I think.. I dunno. It kinda sucked.

BUT! The implications of enforced peace between people who hate each other? I find that fascinating.

Imagine if these advanced alien beings came to Earth and were like "U guys nutz, no more fight plz" and suddenly every gun, every sword, every tank, every military drone, every nuke, every bomb. Became literally too hot to handle or inert.

Imagine every single army, all military hardware and every terrorist cell on Earth becoming useless literally overnight.

What the fuck would happen?

Look at things like Ukraine and Tibet.
Look at the Gaza Strip.
Look at things like the Proudboys and Kazakhstan.
How would it effect gang violence and law enforcement?

It would be so bloody interesting.

I never cared for The Day the Earth Stood Still. Using terroristic threats to end war? It seems to me like the dude's taking the moral high ground while being just as bad as the thing he's trying to fight.
