You have, but it's not as simple as it being "solve for x" in real life. Even something as simple as splitting the remaining balance of a bill after half the people have already paid is a "solve for x" equation. That being said, all math is just a more complicated versions of the simple add/subtract/multiply/divide you had on lock by 4th grade.
