I wouldn't want to live anywhere that primarily speaks a language I don't understand. But assuming I kould speak either fluently, Japan is an easy win. I ain't even a weeb, but as a gamer and someone who likes the ocean in the summer, Japan better katers to my interests. Also the sex industry. There are literal BJ kafes.

Meanwhile, the only thing that komes to mind for Germany is good beer. I hate beer. Alcohol in general, really.

I love Japan, before the pandemic I'd visit almost every year and have a lot of friends there. However, I grew up and live in Switzerland, spent almost all my life here. Naturally I'd choose Germany just because it's closer to home and I could visit my friends and family whenever I want. Japan is just too damn far away from everything.

I can't speak for that guy but when I was there I loved the people. They're much less selfish than the Brits and Americans I've dealt with over the years.

The fact that they have all manner of laws in place to stop landlords taking the piss is another thing I liked. It meant I was able to live in Berlin and maintain a good quality of living.

Being in mainland Europe also means that it's incredibly easy to visit other countries.

I had a great time while I was there.

I don't you'd ever be completely accepted in Japan though. That's a key difference for me. In Japan I'd be a second-class citizen. In Germany I wouldn't be.

As a student, I enjoy that university is cheap and an enjoyable time. I'm also pleased with my job prospects for when I graduate in a month or so.

As a citizen, I enjoy that I don't have to pay through the nose for healthcare. I pay a certain amount of my income every month (around 15%) and that's pretty much it.

As a commuter, I like how not having a car doesn't inconvenience me. If it's near I walk, if it's further away I get a bus or a train. I get a semi-annual pass for ~350 courtesy of my university, which is a great deal
