It's their first party lineup in general. The success of Animal Crossing last year was absolutely bonkers.

Despite being limited to one platform they're still one of, if not, the biggest video game publisher on the planet. That isn't easy.

Well video games are Nintendo's only a thing whereas with Sony and Microsoft gaming is just a side hustle.

I'm pretty annoyed that the Link's Awakening remake on Switch can't run smoothly at 60FPS. I don't mind the graphics not being state of the art, but the games should run well which they don't. The Switch is till underpowered and I really wish a pro version would come out.

Gamecube was more powerful than PS2. Nintendo could make a powerful console if they wanted to

Nintendo understands how to make a fun game and takes bigger risks than the competition.

I think the biggest thing is that they just develop more games that appeal to a wider audience and are the go-to console for families.

All their first party games are slight incremental upgrades from the previous ones. If anything they don't take any risks, because why would they need to?

How does Nintendo take risks when they've been making the same games since the 90's

Mario Odyssey is a slight upgrade from Galaxy?
Breath of the Wild is a slight upgrade from Skyward Sword?
Is Splatoon a derivative work of anything?

I'll give you Mario and Zelda (heck, I'd say Nintendo loves to experiment with those two's 3D games), but I mean Splat 2 and 3 are just incremental upgrades from 1.

Either way, their greatest advantage is their first party games always being polished and oozing with charm. I'd say the same thing from their hardware but......the Switch left a lot to be desired with stuff like dock scratching and especially joycon drifting. Though even then it's still a pretty great console and making a hybrid was the best thing they could've done.
