How exactly would they demand it? You dont get jack without a prescription. And if you had one, youd go to a compounding pharmacy not a retail one.

My first real job was as a drug store manager. It was the most draining job I ever had. I'm pretty sure, now 20 years later, if I kept doing it then I'd be dead.

Why would you go to a compounding pharmacy for a drug that comes bubble-packed from the manufacturer?

But anyway, my sympathies to all my pharmaCE brethren. Retail pharmacy needs nothing short of a revolution to fix the rot and I'm fortunate to have escaped.

Two of our best workers, one a tech and one a pharmacist, left a month ago to go work at a specialty pharmacy. It hurts seeing them go but I'm glad they're onto better things.

Almost our entire pharmacy left in the span of like two months, either out of retail or to Costco.

Sad how that place collapsed in not just the 5 years I was there, but since the beginning of the pandemic. Less people to do more work at a higher corporate demand.

Yeah six total left in December but those two, damn, it really got to me. They just moved onto better things, the other ones (all techs) left pharmacy altogether.

I was one of the last to go and each one was a gut punch. I was begged to stay, but there's nothing they could have offered me that would have mattered.

I feel for you. People were shitty before the pandemic. Afterward, things got much worse. I had people who acted like they wanted to jump over the counter and fight somebody because they were asked to wear a mask.

Nah starting pay is just above minimum wage. If you stick around for years like some do you can make a decent amount with all the certificates and annual raises. But most people start as pharmacy techs as "baby's first medical professionals job" with hopes of moving on up and out when they finish school.

Never did retail as a pharmacist I hope to never find myself in such misfortune.

Here in the acute hospital setting, we see everything from vaccines to remdesivir to monoclonal antibodies. We have covid units in our ED, ICUs, med/surg, and even labor & delivery.

my friend just went to an interview for a pharmacy tech job and she said they were trying to only pay her min wage even though she has experience and is certified. how do they pay so little? like i can understand the cashier working the store for like a CVS/rite aid/etc but even the pharmacy tech that requires schooling still makes nothing? i thought they started at least at like $15 an hour. these people should be making more of a deal of pay then the burger flippers.

im sorry Lan I hope it gets better soon and Ill whack anyone that annoys you at work with a sword. Its not sharp tho, so its kinda like hitting them with a 2x4. The effectiveness is mixed.

I know the feel tc. My job ain't as physically demanding but it's stressful and only made worse by covid related rules and all the overtime we are having to pull.

Why pay someone a lot of money to do important, lifesaving work when you can tell them fuck you and pay them like a fucking cashier?

Yeah I dont know why techs are paid so little, techs do so much. Pay people like assholes and theyre going to act like assholes. Yes the pharmacist checks everything before it goes out but a bunch of techs not caring about losing their $10/hr (thats what I made at CVS) is just going to increase potential for incorrect prescriptions.

It's such bullshit. You have to maintain state and national certifications and you're given responsibilities to assist a pharmacist in managing the health of thousands of patients, but you can make almost the same money working the register at Burger King.

I'm still underpaid to where I think techs should be at my current job, but we're a small business and I started above where I was at CVS, and already got a dollar raise in less than 3 months.

It's criminal how low pharmacy tech wages are.

Honestly, if you have a simple question, like, is my prescription ready or can I get a refill, just make an online account with the retailer and link your RX to it. You can do all that stuff online, refill, pre-pay, mail order, send your doctor a refill notice for maintenance medication.
If you're a senior citizen, can't internet and have trouble walking, then yea, call, but with every call it backs up the pharmacy. With vaccine shots having to be given out and no extra staff, it takes so much time on top of filling out prescription, new year insurance madness and all the other stupid metrics the pharmacy has to meet. So internet better, and if you don't have a stomach parasite, the Ivermectin is out of stock.

I can imagine the medical field would be draining at this time. Have you considered another field?
