Sony seems to like buying up small developers considering they end up as powerhouse ones in the future after having successful games which seems to be their strategy compared to Microsoft's buying up big established franchises.

But if they lose Call of Duty whether Microsoft doesn't want to release it to other consoles then a good counter balance would be to partner with Bungie...that would be funny if a former microsoft partner is bought up by its competitor and it would fix its one less shooters game problem.

bungie has made it very clear that they're not for sale, specifically because they want to be the ones calling the shots on their games.

that's why they left microsoft, that's why they dropped their partnership with activision, and it's likely that microsoft did actually try recently, and that's how they went from putting destiny 2 and all expansions on gamepass, to the unceremonious removal of them a while later.

I'd be willing to bet that if Sony "loses" CoD that CoD just dies after a few years.

There's no reason to play CoD over other much better games on PC, and there aren't enough Xbox players to matter.

It's probably not losing CoD anyway. Microsoft's other acquisitions haven't changed things so far. And they make more money for having the games on those other systems, even if it's a potential competitive advantage. And, honestly, for something like CoD, a clone would just replace it on the ps5 if they tried to make it exclusive.

In that it has/will hurt both game's sales, sure.
Bethesda is not the system seller it used to be.
