Surely the devs would have loved to do an actual boss fight against Vader.

They did.

That is EXACTLY how it would go.

Run or die, you are outclassed

Cal is cool but he's still basically padawan level. Running was his only option.

Honestly making him out to be an unstoppable threat was the right thing to do in that situation.

Yeah, it was basically a playable version of the Rogue One ending. It was a great way to end the game

Already did it with Starkiller. Would've just looked like another copy/paste job.

Dude had like a couple years of Jedi training as a child then went and lived as a scavenger for 10 years and forgot how to use force powers. Getting his ass beat down by Vader was absolutely what should have happened.

Now I wouldn't mind if he goes up against Vader and does well enough on his own to walk away in the 2nd or 3rd game. He shouldn't win though.

Vader could've easily stopped Cal at any moment and there is realistically nothing that Cal could have done to stop it. So with that knowledge, any fight would have either been Vader intentionally toying with Cal, cheapening the overall authenticity of the fight. Or it would've been Vader being given the idiot ball, again cheapening the fight.

Cal was a apprentice who was not even finished his training when order 66 happens. He struggles to remember his training, he also needed help to defeat a jedi master Taron Malicos from a night sister. Vader is much more powerful then a regular jedi master and handles the second sister like its nothing.

Cal struggled most of the game evading or escaping the second sister so he has no chance against Vader.

imagine a nemesis type vader where he chases you randomly throughout the game, like your doing sidequests and all of a sudden you hear vader breathing
