Master Duel has its own banlist. Isn't OCG or TCG.

My god this game plays so much better on PC than console it's ridiculous. I don't understand it. It's not like it looks like an excessively demanding game. It just must be that poorly optimized.

I wish there were keyboard shortcuts for some things though. Like a key you could quickly press to check the discard pile, or access the phase menu.

yeah and there's some other QoL stuff like sometimes, I can't get the GY to close after checking it unless I click around on some other cards

I think my biggest complaint with the UI is the interface for selecting cards during a duel. It doesn't make it clear enough what zone you're picking the card out of (thin border and small icons), and it also doesn't make it clear when it wants you to select one thing at a time versus picking multiple at once. It's overly easy to use an 'up to 2' effect and click okay because you're expecting a second prompt, since it does exactly that in other situations.

It plays way worse on PC for me than PS5, but I also just have a regular laptop that is barely equipped to play games at all. I struggle to reach 30 frames on it.

No issues at all on PS5 for me.

Yeah, my pc is pretty high end. Although again, I don't feel like this is the sort of game that really should be so demanding...

I played it on Switch and PS4 previously. I wasn't surprised that Switch underperformed (AGAIN, it shouldn't! This thing can run plenty of top games with only minor concessions!), but even PS4 was really janky. I guess PS5 would run better, but I don't think it should be necessary to buy a next-gen console just to play Yu-Gi-Oh smoothly...

I've finished the Duel Pass with 64 days to go. I haven't even played that much!

Oh damn this last solo mode thing is long and involved! Didn't expect this.

They still need to cover Crusadia, Orcusts and Guardragons

Yeah if the last thing is world legacy then...yeah. It's a whole saga.

It's also the only solo mode that I've been unable to fully complete. Those loaner decks are just so bad.

Yup. I've cleared all of the solo content with my own deck, but some of those loaners are just painful and it's making me hardly want to try.

That Digital Bug Kaiju loaner deck was the worst

I like the idea of the loaners but often they just mash two archetypes together that blatantly have no real synergy, so you really just want to reset for a hand that's biased towards one or the other.

I think the most egregious was the Qli + rank 10 Trains combo. Sure, we'll combine a pendulum deck that mostly doesn't play and can't summon level 10s with an archetype that only wants level 10 monsters.

Is there a reward for completing all of solo mode? I read something like that, but I can't tell if it was a bonus reward for completing the whole thing, or if they were simply summing up the rewards you collectively get for beating everything in it.

And if it was the former, I don't know if they're counting the locked gate stuff also.

Pretty sure there isn't anything extra for doing it all.

Just finished beating the solo stuff last night and didn't get anything. Although I have yet to complete it, as in do every single duel. The final scenario with the World Legacy stuff didn't even wrap up at the end.

I just grinded out a 30 minute win against Eldlich, which felt extra good because fuck Eldlich.

Hate facing that deck. Just not a fun deck to play against. Reminds me of Dark World from black when I played seriously.

And yes, there is no reward for finishing everything in Solo mode. Though you get a cute Guardragon mate near the end.

Yeah, I also finished it last night and didn't get anything special or extra. I felt like most of them were reasonable once you understood all your card effects and extra deck options, but others, like some of the pendulum duels, were incredibly annoying given how bad your deck is by comparison plus playing on xbox sx meant the game would randomly bug out from pendulum summons forcing a reset of the game.

The Demise/Ruin loaners could also be pretty luck-based, but at least it was pretty straightforward and resulted in a fairly quick win/loss.

Also, speaking of special rewards, I earned the secret mission last night for winning without summoning when I let a Japanese player go 1st, and they had some crazy Exodia deck (might not actually be crazy, but was to me given that playing Stardust Accelerator 2009 on DS was my most modern deck Yugioh experience), and they got down to 8 cards left with presumably one piece missing and used magical mallet or whatever to shuffle like 5 cards back in and draw 5 more and then surrendered (they had already used the spell that makes you discard your hand in the end phase).

Nibiru as a handtrap is also bothersome but funny at the same time in a 'haha you gave me 10000+ atk and you have no removal left' kinda way.

Eldlich is why I run backrow hate.

Got up to Plat 1 with mostly Lunalights (though with a bit of bird up in the lower ranks). Feels good slapping Eldlich/drytron/Sky Striker with my waifu furry dancer schlong.

Ranks have now reset for the new season. I went from Plat 3 to Gold 5, and also received 800 gems.

Go look at your record of gems received. There wasn't anything telling me I got the gems, but I noticed my gem count was slightly higher than it previously was.

You also receive gems for every rank you go up as well, so I wasn't expecting anything at all. I'm thinking that, rather than these being extra reward gems, it's just the gems I would have gotten if I was climbing back up anyway.

So is there something about super poly I don't understand? I had a situation last night where I put in a couple of extra deck guys to fuse away troublesome opponents monsters with (like starving venom), and I had a situationw here I ended up with 2 battle faders on the field. Super Poly would not let me fuse them away into SV (whose materials are just 2 dark monsters except tokens; faders are dark). There were no effects on the field that I could tell that prevented special summoning.

The only thing I can think of is not having a card to discard for Super Poly. Could also be the deck your playing, I know will stop you from special summoning certain monster types if you use their abilities

This was in dragonmaids. And yeah I had a card to discard. I wish I had saved the replay but I was just so disgusted (even though I was unlikely to win anyway)

I also learned that apparently you can't special summon synchros from the graveyard unless they were properly summoned first, or something? My opp brought out a crystal wing synchro dragon not by synchro summoning, and I tried to monster reborn it later and it wouldn't let me, and I spied a little icon that said "Wasn't properly SS'd"

Isn't it true of Fusion (and Ritual) monsters as well? I thought it was...

Maybe? Rituals aren't extra deck monsters though. Maybe I've just been in a cave the whole time.

Rituals aren't Extra Deck, but I think they would be if the mechanic was designed/released any time after Synchros were released, since they're basically the same concept as a fusion. They'd certainly see a lot more play if they were.

I think its just an inherent unspoken rule. Monsters like synchros need to be properly special summoned first if you want to revive them.
And some monsters cant even be revived of course, but in those cases that is made explicitly clear.

I knew about the proper summon rule but can't remember where I first learned it.

I did run into the "was not properly SSed" notification for the first time on sunday which I thought was a nice touch. Idk if this would be feasible but I hope they add more notifications like that ingame for some rulings.

Got put back to Gold 5 from Plat 1. Didn't get any gems for the earlier ranks I'm going to miss out on. Kinda shitty.
