I will never really understand why they made Vader do that. Like, I get the concept of making him a huge heel and making him seem like a monster, but they they 'suspended' him over it and he wasn't on TV.

How do you pull your top 20 matches?

I was playing a 1985 AWA owned by Hulk Hogan. My roleplaying is that Verne Gagne realize Vince was going to win the wrestling war and his only chance was a 50/50 partnership with Hogan. But, Hogan being Hogan screwed over Verne and got full ownership somehow.

First show Hogan beat Rick Martell and then held the belt for about 3 months before he faced Bob Backlund. Bob beat him on a 2 out of 3 falls match. Their rematch 2 months later was a 60 minute Iron Man that ended at 58 minutes in when Baron von Raschke, Jerry Brisco, Curt Hennig (and Larry Hennig was also in the stable but not in the attack) ran out to give a beat down to the Hulkster. He was saved of course by Sgt. Slaughter and a recently hired Randy Savage.

Anyway, when Hogan won the belt back like 6 months after losing it, it was in a Lumberjack match that went half an hour, came off back to back hot matches, still only got a 90 overall even though individual performance by Hogan and Backlund was 99 each. I have no idea how that happens.

This came off a Story Telling match for The Fabulous Ones defeating Brad and Sgt. Slaughter as 3rd to last match, then a wild brawl Jerry Lawler vs Hennig, both over 80 overall matches.

Then I get to the main event. Takes place end of the year blow off show. Backlund had previously twice defended his title against Hogan with interference finishes. This was a 25 minute spectacle as a Lumberjack match. Backlund gives in ring of 98, Hogan gives in-ring 97, both are my biggest draws in the company, Hogan has 85 nationwide popularity, Backlund has 80-82.

But the segment rating only gets a 79. I just don't get it. The crowd was hot, the action was good, the popularity was high.

How, I ask, HOW?! Like is it a clash of styles? Do I need to get Bret Hart built up to a superstar to get a 100 out of this crowd?

And this was the re-match of SuperClash that ended the storyline. Bah!

You seem to have a better grasp on the game than me. Do you have any advice to book shows faster? Sometimes you can even use the arrow keys to go up and down lists. Makes booking so slow

Hmmm.

Make sure you are sorting by perception when making matches. Like I might have a 4 man tag of my face stars and major stars vs. heels unimportant and recognizable. And always "exclude already booked". Only pre-book major fights, unless yours is a style that gets negged for that. I have my settings to give pre-booking a bonus but not negative from not using it. I basically use pre-booking for story telling purposes only, and to remind myself. Like next PPV is Hogan and Slaugther vs Lawler and Backland, with Lawler to pin me clean, to set up the 3-4 month feud with Lawler while I get a few other heels up to Major Star status.

You don't have to put in all the details in the booking itself. Like you set the match, match type. It's an obvious squash of Hogan vs. Shawn Michaels in 1985. So I might set steal the show, decisive victory. On it's own it figures out Hogan should win like 999/1000 or something. I don't need to tell it decisive finish or pinfall. You don't need to tell it script or call in ring, it will pick the best.

I do think this varies based on the quality of your booker, though. So get 2 decent bookers.

My Product is Classic Southern Style Wrasslin. They like long matches. I can do an hour iron man and have them eat it up. They love those 20 minute matches. So another part of fast booking is choosing a product where you can have long segments. Like my TV show is 90 minutes and is typically:

Main event - 20 minute steal the show or spectacle (22 minute after intros).
6 minute interview
15 minute (17 total) story telling match
6 minute interview
15 minute (17) wild brawl
5 minute skit of a movie
15 minute (17) regular
------ 90 minutes
preshow - promo 5 minutes from someone unimportant that I want to eventually use in main events
preshow - work the crowd match for 20 minutes or technical masterpiece

My weekly live events I have different pattern but still use a pattern. My monthly PPVs are the only ones I put much creativity in.

Always get the best announcer and color people you can get. If you give them something decent they grow fast. My Jim Ross started as a 79-87 announcing and is now 84-92 10 minutes in game and because I kept doing like epics and story telling and wild brawl, he's gotten mods like "voice of wild brawl" and "voice of epics" so those matches get big boosts.

And try to keep your belt prestige high. This is an area I did badly early on, defending my belts weekly. Now I'm figuring AT MOST to defend my heavyweight belt at PPVs. I figure in 1986 Hogan will have 9 defenses and not drop it.

Oh, i forgot I had 1 show that was 1 hour. That one I tape 2 episodes at a time. From what can tell you keep the sound crowd when you book 2 shows at once. So you get them hot the first episode, they are already hot in episode 2. So that saves the time of booking 1-2 pre-taping matches.

Oh, and actual tip to make everything fast. The data base runs when you are skipping days if you have the program in the background but I swear it's at like 1/10 normal speed. So even when its just refreshing days I keep it on the top of one screen, and read or whatever I am doing on the other as a background program.

Yeah, I get that. What I mean is that we can't select a whole stable and once and drop them into a 5v5 matches. We can do this with Tag Teams, which is nice. Since my company is built around stables, and do more multiman matches, it's just harder for me because it takes too f'n long to select everyone, and set up the matches.

You can't just select from the list on the right. You have to either click and drag them over, or type their name, and then hit shit, type the next person, shift, next, shit, next, shift - Of course you just have to usually hit the first letter, but it's still annoying to have to do over and over, for every match. And you can also click and scroll with the mouse, but I'm f'n terrible at clicking things, and that's on me, lol

That's another thing, I have everyone in a storyline and broken up by tier.

1 for jobbers
1 for mid carders
1 for main eventers
optional - main story you have going on with champ whoever is chasing him.

how many storylines do you need going on in your game and how many types of matches? I only need 2 types of matches and 2 storylines.

That somehow got an 89. It came off a shit match that was like a 56. Maybe that is key with my audience, get them hot but give them shit before something great?

Is there a way to see all the backstage incidents that have happened? That would be fun to go back on.

^ Not that I know of. You can look at an individuals discipline log, but I think only when they are being disciplined.

I think I burnt my crowd out big time there. My opening match was my highest overall at 80, even though lawler/hogans performance was 95/96 respectively.
