Germany didnt have enough nuclear weapons to end all life on earth several times over.

I didn't say do nothing, but the first option, hold the line(love isn't always on time), would end up in nuclear war.

Being from the UK our energy prices have already skyrocketed in recent months. I want the outcome to be whatever makes my bills go down again. Probably not war with Russia.

There needs to be a fine line of where they need to stop. If we just allow them to continue to take over things just because they have nuclear power, we'll end up letting them take every country they could ever want. By that time, there would be no stopping them.

We need to prevent this shit before it gets out of hand. And it will.

We choke them economically. And before anyone says it, no China wouldn't side with Russia over the west, politically they may align with Russia, but economically they need us much more.

Why does it need to be extremes? We can't just abandon countries because Russia wants them. Let's be honest, Putin would take over literally all of Europe one country by one country if we allowed it. Imagine a super Russia where all of Europe was taken over because all powers backed down. Then what?

If Russia directly attacked the US with a conventional army would you be against retaliating in case they nuked us?

Mutually Assured Destruction runs off the principle that a country with nuclear weapons will not directly attack another country with nuclear weapons since they can counter attack with a nuclear weapon. Additionally a country with them would not use them since the other country understands that a nuclear counterattack is sure to follow. The entire reason the Cold War existed and still exists is that neither the US and Russia can attack each other directly so proxy wars were the only way to keep each other in check.

My point was simply that if you give someone an inch, they'll take a mile. It's exactly, EXACTLY what Germany was doing back in WW2.

Now where does our Natural Gas come from?
48.7% is imported, which while impossible to track (since there's a vast pipeline over all of Europe) we can use aggregate gas flows from Russia to Europe to "guess" where it originates, or should have originated from:
65% comes from Norway
12% comes from Belgium and Netherlands, which both import from Russia (in the Netherlands natural gas, accounts for more than half of their use), but that's not necessary where the gas we import comes from - https://www.kevinhollinrake.org.uk/sites/www.kevinhollinrake.org.uk/files/2018-04/Russian%20gas%20flows_0.pdf

There's a reason why we've got a pretty hard stance against Russia, compared to the rest of Europe - and and one of them is due to the fact we're not relying on them for Natural Gas/Energy.

Unless that response should be understood to mean that you think he will unleash full scale nuclear war. Then the question becomes where and on who? Putin is rational and acting to further Russian interests. How would global nuclear war further those goals? It wont.
