I don't actually care that Bonds took steroids...lots of players in that era took steroids(nevermind the players from previous eras that took other kinds of supplements and drugs), but Barry Bonds became one of the most feared players of all time. He was walked an absolute ton and got on base a ridiculous amount of the time. In bases loaded situations, some teams would actually opt for walking Bonds and letting a run score automatically.

Yeah, I get it. Steroids and cheating. But a LOT of other guys took steroids in that era, but who actually transformed into one of the most feared players of all time? Perhaps considered the greatest to ever play outside of Babe Ruth.

edit: and yeah, as somebody said, even before he took steroids and grew a head 3 times the size of a normal human head, he was probably going to be a HOFer. It just seems pointless to keep him out.

can't deny their impact for sure, but they're opening the gate. if they let these known cheaters in they gotta put in the rest that deserve it like Pete Rose and those denied before. otherwise the hof is a joke.

Sure. One, they didn't even start testing for steroids until 2003, so there's no telling how many players were actually abused steroids during a time period that's literally known as the steroid era because usage was pretty widespread. Two, baseball as a whole is filled to the brim with cheaters. Every pitcher that's ever applied a foreign substance to a ball (hint: it's most of them) wouldn't make the hall of Fame if baseball didn't want cheaters to be recognized.

Cheating in baseball is as much a part of the sport as hitting the ball is.

I think the thing is with all three of these guys is that they are all horrible people and completely irredeemable. This is not even factoring in the cheating necessarily, they're just terrible people. Should being a shitty person exclude you from the Hall? I don't know. Obviously there are a ton of shitty people in the Hall already. But not all of them had access to the internet like Curt Schilling does to constantly remind you how awful they are.

Very much agreed. Before he'd taken anything, he was already a 3 time MVP, had a legit 40/40 season, and 8 gold gloves.

Been looking forward to the reveal. Wouldn't be surprised if there were no inductees, though.

Fuck them, none of them should be in the Hall of Fame. I don't care if they were on the trajectory on becoming one before cheating, once they were caught cheating they lost the right to become one.

This is why I despise humans, you do a bad thing and all you have to do is wait a while (even if you have to wait for a decade+) then everyone will stop caring and forgive you. Fucking garbage.

The point people are making is that a large chunk of past winners need to be removed then. As it is, refusing to recognize the best players from a time period when steroid use was rampant is messed up.

he got suspended for not cooperating because he destroyed his phone(after they told him they had everything they needed), nothing in the reports ever proved he actually cheated or that the footballs were even deflated purposely in the first place

you notice how the NFL never bothered with the whole PSI testing transparency thing? We havent heard a word about it since then because they know they wasted millions of dollars on an investigation that was pointless

Rule of thumb, saying things like "I despise humans" is a quick way to make sure no one finds your opinions credible.

Im not entering the HoF until the steroid era stars are all in there. Its sort of a shame because I havent been there yet, but Im not giving them my money.
