Do you think FB is responsible for her daughter's psychotic meltdown?

Brittney Doffing from Oregon is suing Snap and Meta for turning her WELL ADJUSTED 14 y/o daughter into a violent cell phone NUTCASE who has developed an eating disorder and undergone mutliple psychiatric admissions in the past 2 years for violent outbursts!!

She says her well adjusted teen daughter was just fine until the mom caved and bought her a smartphone for her 14th birthday so she could talk to her friends during the pandemic

But Brittney said that's when it went downhill and claims "Anytime i try to take the phone, she would get very physical, violent, verbl with me and with her sisters. She would smash the phone so i couldn't review the content"

She is now su ing the parent companies of snapchat and instagram, that being facebook along with the help of social media victims law centre.

It comes months after leaked research showed that FB was warned that instagram was harming young girl's body image

She's accusing the companies of knowing their products were a danger to teens and failed to warn them of their consequences and failed to stop the anonymous messages being sent to teens from sexual exploitation of strangers

Her daughter, described as "M.K" was a happy, high achieving child just 2 years ago who was into volleyball, track, basketball and drama and was very outgoing.

She said "Her birthday came around she was really wanting a cell phone and i was really hesitant about it but then i kind of broke down because she lost all connections with everybody through school and that's how a lot of her friends interacted, through cell phones"

Now she said her daughter doesn't eat much and has been violent with all of her and abuses them constantly and blames the social media giants for causing this on her by purposely designing their products to be addictive, especially snapchat

Do you think facebook was responsible for her daughter's psychotic meltdown?

she's going to get absolutely crushed by their legal teams. no matter how much of a point she might have there's no way she's got the money to back up a legal case like this.

this, hell we should just stop holding corporations accountable for actively targeting kids, they're above the law and too important to fail and also their turds taste delicious.

This.

My 12 year old has a phone but she is only allowed limited time to text and no social media of any kind. She also has to leave it in the living room when at home. No staying up late on the phone.

I think this line might be the real issue that is being avoided tbh. People always want to blame social media, video games, etc for these kind of problems when it could be something else. Maybe she was going through major depression during the pandemic and lockdowns? Not everyone can handle that well.

Im also sure the conversation went like this: You are spending too much time on your phone. Im taking it away. Not asking any real questions and not trying to understand your child. That happens far too often
