Brittney Doffing from Oregon is suing Snap and Meta for turning her WELL ADJUSTED 14 y/o daughter into a violent cell phone NUTCASE who has developed an eating disorder and undergone mutliple psychiatric admissions in the past 2 years for violent outbursts!!

She says her well adjusted teen daughter was just fine until the mom caved and bought her a smartphone for her 14th birthday so she could talk to her friends during the pandemic

But Brittney said that's when it went downhill and claims "Anytime i try to take the phone, she would get very physical, violent, verbl with me and with her sisters. She would smash the phone so i couldn't review the content"

She is now su ing the parent companies of snapchat and instagram, that being facebook along with the help of social media victims law centre.

It comes months after leaked research showed that FB was warned that instagram was harming young girl's body image

She's accusing the companies of knowing their products were a danger to teens and failed to warn them of their consequences and failed to stop the anonymous messages being sent to teens from sexual exploitation of strangers

Her daughter, described as "M.K" was a happy, high achieving child just 2 years ago who was into volleyball, track, basketball and drama and was very outgoing.

She said "Her birthday came around she was really wanting a cell phone and i was really hesitant about it but then i kind of broke down because she lost all connections with everybody through school and that's how a lot of her friends interacted, through cell phones"

Now she said her daughter doesn't eat much and has been violent with all of her and abuses them constantly and blames the social media giants for causing this on her by purposely designing their products to be addictive, especially snapchat.

Organ mom

Kid was desperate to hold on to the little freedom she had, mom's a garbage parent.

Kid can only smash a phone once, its the moms fault if she keeps buying her new ones.

This is also a load of horseshit, anything in life can be "addictive".

Snapchat wasnt created "to be addictive". It was originally created as a way to message people without an auto history and post stories and updates about whats going on with you within 24 hours. In fact now all social media has copied this idea.

Are they responsible?

No (have you ever met a fourteen year old girl)

Are they a contributing factor to her behaviour?

Absolutely (Zuck wants them clicks)

As part of a class it has merit, but if they opt not to seek class certification, Meta just has to argue "she's a fourteen year old girl, have you met one?" though that would eventually harm them when a class action is filed.

Just to elaborate: Meta's argument hinges on the systemic societal issues effecting young women predating the creation of social media, and hoping the plaintiffs don't use Meta's own internal data that shows they exacerbated the situation by allowing minors to use their platforms.

sounds like she became a teen age girl. Man when I started dating my wife her one sister was 13-14 and in gr8 and she was pretty quiet and nice, few months later hitting high school shit constantly was hitting the fan over everything with her. She really started to calm the fuck down when she turned 19 or so.

No corporation is ever at fault for poor parenting or educating how to use social media.
