My first was a golden doduo in crystal. I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 1 or 2 more naturally past that but I can't remember for the life of me what they were. Maybe I haven't but the last pokemon games I actually owned physically and bought close to release were ruby/sapphire, fire red/leaf green, and diamond version for the DS. I played B/W 1 & 2 on emu in 2015 also.

I got two in the first hour of X. That's all I've ever caught.

I had only ever found the red Gyarados and a random shiny Buneary before August of 2020. Then I got into shiny hunting. There are methods that make finding shinies a breeze. I have 332 unique shinies I've found since I started hunting a year and a half ago.

Edit: Just this morning I found a shiny Klefki and a shiny Lillipup in ORAS.

I got a shiny bisharp although I don't remember if I caught it or if I was wonder traded

Rufflet (hatched, which is crazy because I really haven't hatched many Pokemon)

I just spent a couple hours doing the Dexnav method in ORAS and got a second shiny Lillipup. That's my third shiny today with that method.

I once farmed a few of the legendries. I once encountered a shiny pidgey but didn't know what it was so I let it go lol

I did not play Gen 7 at all.

Other than Pokemon Go, I'm in the same boat -- unless there was another guaranteed shiny.

And even something like Crystals 50% shiny chance from that one egg didn't pan out for me.

My First Caught was in Platinum and it was that Damn Deer.

I know you like to do stuff like this, but I haven't played XY or ORAS since a month after each of them came out.

If you still have a copy of ORAS somewhere, try the dexnav method. It takes a little getting used to, but the shiny rate is pretty good once you get the hang of it. I've found hundreds of shinies doing that method. Plus you can get some pretty sick shinies, like Zorua, Breloom, Phantump, etc. etc.

Only gotten a Darumaka myself. Have never bothered hunting for them but i feel like i shouldve seen at least 1 more by now given how many replays ive done.

I got a tenracool in silver back in 2008. Then I got a karrablast in black or white 2 probably bout 2016ish.

I've played all the Pokemon games up until Sun/Moon. Never seen one in the wild. Starting to think it's a myth.

Here are, imo, the easiest ways to find shinies.

XY: Friend Safaris. Friend Safaris have a 1/580 or so chance for shiny. Just keep running around and encountering pokemon, and just run when it's not shiny, and catch it if it is shiny. I've found like 4 shinies an hour with this method sometimes. And sometimes it will take a week of doing it for about an hour a day. But, eventually you will find shinies with this method. The limiting factor is the pool of available pokemon isn't super big, but you can still find some good stuff this way.

ORAS: Dexnav. This method starts at 1/1300~ with the shiny charm, but the neat thing is the more you do it, you get permenant compounded shiny rolls per species you hunt. So by 900 encounters your shiny chance is actually like 1/150, but chances are good you'll find shinies LONG before then. Once you practice it a bit and get good at it, you can get 100 encounters in about 80 minutes. You can just run away, but if you keep a chain going by knocking out or catching pokemon, you get bonus shiny rolls at 49 and 99 in an encounter chain. You can get TONS of different Pokemon doing this method. Almost all gen 3 Pokemon can be obtained shiny this way, and also hundreds of Pokemon from other generations.

SM/USUM: SOS chaining. Like Dexnav, as long as you keep a chain of successful SOS calls going, your shiny chance compounds pretty fast. Starts at about 1/1024, but compounds to about 1/680 or so. Sometimes you get a shiny immediately, sometimes it takes a few hours. But this is a nice easy way to get some good gen 7 shinies, and some other odd Pokemon too. Actually the pokedex in gen 7 is pretty varied.

USUM: Ultra Wormholes. This is actually what got me into shiny hunting. Your odds of shiny with this method are frankly INSANE. Like 1/8 if you travel far enough. Yes. 1 in 8. You'll find shinies ALL the time with this method. And while the selection of Pokemon you can hunt shiny is pretty good, the pool is tiny. Like only 25 different specieis are actually huntable with this method, but you'll get some pretty great ones doing this. You can spend hours doing this and get tons of shinies.

SwSh: Dynamax Adventures. This method is time consuming, but, your odds of shiny are 4/100. Yes really. And this is a great way to hunt for shiny legendaries. I got a shiny Necrozma with this method. And while you hunt for legendaries you will get other shinies too. And the pool is massive. Hundreds of different Pokemon can be found shiny with this method. But here's the catch. You don't know that a Pokemon is shiny until after the adventure is over. You get to examine all the Pokemon you catch on an adventure after it's over, and that's when you find out if it's shiny, and you can take one Pokemon with you.

Go out there and get hunting!

Oh also, this method applies to XY and ORAS:
Horde encounters. This one is super easy. Just get a pokemon that knows sweet scent. Go to a place where hordes can happen and just spam sweet scent. Run away when no shiny is present, and fight when you do find a shiny. And if you do this in ORAS, it actually increases your total encounters on a Pokemon, so if you plan to dexnav you'll get those permenant shiny rolls by doing this method. Pool is limited, but you can still get some good stuff with hordes.

I found 4 shinies with dexnav in 3 hours tonight. Glameow, Lillipup, Skrelp and Jellicent.
