i think i'll be okay. last time i did this for about a year was in 2020, during the great quarantine. the only person with me was my now wife, and i usually just kept to myself during that time lol.

Ive been doing casual OMAD for January. Down a little over 10 pounds. Cold water and hot tea will be your friends if youre having a hard time not eating.

I'm not effected by OMAD too much. I'm either super tough or just always feel like shit and can't tell the difference.

---
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

You dont have to torture yourself.

Calories in vs Calories out is all that matters for weight loss. All those special BS stuff like keto, intermittent fasting etc. are just flavor.

The real weight loss treatment is eating less. Shocker, but people really dont want to accept that. Thats why they invent all kinds of stuff to avoid eating less.

Do stuff in the morning so you dont think about it. Actually exercise would be perfect.

i hear you 100% and i agree

BUT

i struggle with it. i want to keep my calorie intake low, so i keep my meals small. but then i never get satisfied and im likely to just say fuck it and eat a big meal at the end of the day and go over my calorie goals.

but if i dont eat until say 12pm, then i get to eat bigger meals for the rest of the day and i feel like i can eat what i want instead of half of what i wanted.

but yeah i agree, CICO is all that matters but this helps me with cravings.

This, the only benefit to intermittent fasting is that some people find it easier to stick to the diet if they have this strict eating schedule, so they can keep their calories down.

If the sticking to the schedule sucks too bad, then try something else. The "magic" diet is just whatever diet you find the easiest to stick to everyday to keep your calories down.

started the intermittent fasting this january once again too.
I'm already at the point where only the 15th hour is kinda shitty.
used top stop eating at 8pm and start at noon.
Now I can have dinner at 7pm and I can start at noon for an hour of autophagy.
calories in and calories out is nice and all but the body is not an abacus, and managing your insulin spikes is an important aspect of being healthy.

You could instead schedule eating times where you only eat food during certain time periods without fasting. ie: meal 1 at 7-7:30 am, meal 2 at 10-11 am, meal 3 at 2-3 pm, meal 4 at 6-7 pm, meal 5 before bed. (modify it according to your life) The "meal" includes snacks. Don't eat anything outside of those scheduled times.

Okay I'll think about that. I think cutting down the number of times i eat helps.

hm. there are folks who only eat once a day. if i did that, i could just stuff down a giant burrito or giant plate of chicken katsu and call it a day, and still lose weight.

HMMMMM

There's plenty of ways for our body to get sugar without eating refinded shit, fruit or bread as an example.

Refined sugar is just the end result of what your body converts rice pasta noodles wheat potatoes etc.
But yeah, stick to fearing sugar, cause carbs are all so different right? Simple carbs complex, it all turns into sugar molecules. I'm right your wrong neener neener

Im currently on a 48hr fast. Might push it to 72 and Im going to lift tomorrow. My father finally came to me to ask some advice on IF so of course Ill baby step him out of routine and replace it with another.

Currently I want to get him to actually have an eating window of the classic 16:8 IF and work from there with dietary changes. He snacks all the time and workouts out lightly but wants to lose some more weight. Ive helped my mother lose weight, now hes caving in. I dont preach my lifestyle but I will aggressively help those who want it.

Listen if you feel like crap eating less or adjusting to a small or long fast window, remember that water (especially cheap water, low PH stuff) is not going to do you many favors.

  1. Its not going to curb any appetite
  2. Its going to make you piss out all the the good stuff your body needs to be optimal.
You feel crappy bc youre low (majority of the public) on potassium and salt. Yes, sodium, the stuff that makes your clock tick, the shit that makes your cells do their job.

Water will flush that stuff out on a fast and it needs to be replaced. Grab some potassium chloride powder, some pink salt and throw it in some water. Youll bounce back from a lethargic mess to an active human being. Long fasts have so many benefits besides the weight loss but you have to 100% make sure youre taking it adequate amount of those minerals daily.

At least 3000mg of potassium and upwards of 2000mg of sodium. But if youre just doing IF where youll actually be eating on the daily, you can just slowly incorporate foods that have those minerals plus add the supplement to feel solid.
