An hour drive is as good an excuse as any to not have to see each other, there, that makes sense.

Only child. Wife has been raising her two younger sisters and one brother since she was a kid. The brother just turned 13 and has lived with us for two years. The two sisters are 19-21. All of that is the reason we've been on the fence about having kids for a while.

I live within 30 mins of America and I can't America anymore. I mean I can but its not worth the effort. Its crazy because pre 9/11 you didn't need a passport. I don't think that change made things safer it just made it more annoying to get down for some Oroville fireworks or some tacos and concerts and so much shit.

Yeah but concerts and taco trucks.

I haven't crossed the line since a couple years before covid but aside from the border bs there's some great tacos down there and also concerts but not as consistently as tacos.

Also going to Oroville for the 4th of July was a thing I did back in the day and it was nuts what they spent on fireworks.

Compared to Canada day up here it was an absolute spectacle for a tiny ass little ugly town.

True, concerts, fair enough. I can imagine there's loads more south of the border than where you are.

I never had tacos, it's something I always wanted to try though. Hot pockets as well. Idk why, I imagine hot pockets to be repulsive as hell but I've heard these things mentioned so many times over the years, I'm curious.

Vancouver has a ton of awesome shows and always has but yeah van is 4 hours away but the gorge is like 2 hours and way more beautiful. Even Seattle is as close as van really so distance wise when it was easy to cross the border it was worth it for shows. But then again we also have some pretty awesome shows.

But yeah, internet. America is pretty much everywhere and anywhere I come into contact with on the internet. It's a big part of how I learned the English language, together with movies and shows and music, which are consumed here probably 80-90% of the time.

I used to live close to Gettysburg, and about 2 hours from DC so our field trips were to one of the two. Only had deja vu twice in my life and both times was at Gettysburg.

Damn, lol. The little brother thing I guess. It's kinda the same over here. We learned a lot about Netherlands, France, Germany and generally Europe, not even that much about Belgium itself. Also, it's only been a country since 1830 so no one gives a shit anyway.

I know Canadian history way more in depth than US history as an adult so obviously I have more reference points about Canada, but for real Canadians in ww1 and ww2 were vicious. They took positions brits and yanks failed too and they had no time for Christmas or breaks of any kind.

It's crazy how much church shit has happened all over the world. For the longest time as well. There have been too many priests here doing fucked up shit with children, yet the church protects all these dudes. They give them a nice cottage in France and hope they never show their face again while not even condemning them. It's so fucked.
