Dragon Age Origins - perfect game in nearly all respects. One of the best RPGs of all time. Infinitely replayable

Dragon Age 2: Shit in most ways. Some fantastic bits of writing. Phoned in and dumbed down

Dragon Age Inquisition: literally an MMO clone with a bland, shitty story, dead world, and glitches abound. My companions never spoke to each other, ever. Rare glitch, apparently. Also, most of the environments were plain dull and unimaginative

Like seriously, how do they go from a masterpiece to two bad/barely passable games???

Not to mention the cast of DA:I is hot garbage apart from Blackwall

I found inquisition's story and cast pretty great, same with 2. Both still got some utterly fantastic writing in it and Inquisitions conclusion in Trespasser probably some of Bioware's best.

Both had obvious gameplay issues though. 2 with being forced far beyond ready by EA, and 3 with originally being an MMO and that pretty obviously remaining in far too much of the game. So I can't fault people for not enjoying them.

I liked Inquisition, but probably because I disliked 2 so much.

Fable 1/2 are still some of the most fun I've had, even if they are basically entirely different games compared to the vast amount of lies they were sold as.

God I'm so fucking upset about dragon age. Origins was one of the most immersive gaming experiences of my entire life

I know I liked Inquisition when I played it, but I can't for the life of me remember that much about it. To be fair, I never played 2 so some of that could be because anything connecting the games I had no real attachment to. Origins though I've played probably a dozen times and remember every nook and cranny of that game.

Origins was great. But the fade is my single most hated section in a game, ever. And Inquisition isn't that bad

I enjoyed all 3 Fable games. I really appreciated 3 because the game continued after you became the ruler and you got to make choices on how to run things.

Man why does everyone hate the Fade? I loved it, id play a whole Dragon Age game exploring the Fade.

Dorian is literally the only reason I stuck with Inquisition.

One of the largest discrepancies between how good a character is and how bad a game is that I can think of.

I just cannot make myself give even a single fuck about Chrono Cross, and I WANT to like that game.

The game was already an acquired taste when it released over 20 years ago, when it was new and shiny and the RPG landscape had far fewer available options. Falling in love with it nowadays would indeed be a challenge.

I tried in 2002, and about every 4 or 5 years since then, and I've never made it more than 2-4 hours. I own the disc.

What's really disheartening is that Dragon Age 4 seems like a mess behind the scenes so far. Apparently, it was going to be multiplayer focused and have live service elements before a pivot in development to a single player experience. Some key people, such as the lead producer and executive producer, have left BioWare mid development.

It's sad and unfortunate to see.

DA2 was like... Hey, we don't know what else to do with the city of Kirkwall, so uh, try these levels.... Backwards!

DAI was just a single player MMO

DA2: Gets shit for reusing dungeons.
ME1: Does the same thing but gets away with it.

DA2 and Inquisition aren't bad, but they're certainly downgrades from Origins.

Fable is a better example, though even the 1st wasn't anywhere near as good as DA:O. Still, it went from above average to crap very fast.

Metal Gear Solid nosedives after 3.

I think Mass Effect fell off a lot harder personally. Went from the most critically acclaimed trilogy of a generation to a mediocre mess that killed the series off for potentially an entire decade.

In conclusion: no, there isn't

mass effect fell much harder, the gameplay in inquisition might have been bland (though much better then the dumpster fire that was 2), but at least it wasn't the flaming pile of shit that Andromeda was.

Mass effect fanboys begone, mass effect was never good

Never really got the DA:O hype. Game felt clunky as hell. And although it is a rare modern RPG with actual RPG elements, it was still pretty substandard in that regard. At least there was a lot of stuff to do.

The original/Black versions are all-around great, 2 has great combat but stumbles in many ways, 3 is garbage, the 4th one is cel-shaded nonsense no one remembers, and the Sigma versions are the inferior ones.

Fallout's a unique case in that New Vegas was like strapping on a jetpack halfway through the fall, rocketing back to the top of the cliff, and then falling off again.

So I guess it has the distinction of falling off hard twice.
