I knew about Doctor Sleep but wasn't counting half of IT since the other half isn't. Faithful in spirit means it changes details but hits everything I found important about the kids parts, such as the kids individually being tormented and coming against a monster with vague hints of something much greater behind its origin, and Derry being a town corrupted by the influence of IT, with the adults being either predators or enablers. It also told a genuine story about childhood, and was genuinely fun and wholesome at parts, the other part of the book I loved.
