At least what I've read.

Might also get distracted and stop. Or run out of posts and stop...

I'll be following this. Ive never read a classic King book, but I have a library with most of his early works on the shelf thanks to my wife.

Starting from the beginning

Carrie 1974 4/5

Very strong first novel, only thing I really say against it is that since it's so short there's not a whole lot of depth to it, but it does what it needs to very well

Salem's Lot 1975 4/5

Grown on me a lot since I first read it, and a few parts of it will NEVER leave me. Great audiobook performance too.

The Shining 1977 4/5

creepy haunted house/hotel is very creepy. Movie is a shitty adaptation and only a decent movie overall, book is miles better.

Rage 1977 3/5

Angsty kid brings a gun to class decades before school shootings were a regular thing. For all it's controversy, I don't actually think this book is really offensive or concerning, but also not King's best character work.

The Stand 1978 5/5

Even with the cop out ending, this is simply one of the best books I've read, filled with memorable scenes and characters and enthralling through nearly all of its massive length.

Night Shift 1978

Have not finished sadly :( Might be one of my next projects

The Long Walk 1979

Also have not read :(

The Dead Zone 1979 5/5

This was one of the first books I've read of King, and this is what I think of when I hear someone complaining about his endings, since this is a masterpiece of a novel that people don't talk about nearly as much as they should.

Firestarter 1980 2/5

I don't know why, but almost every time King veers more into Scifi than horror, I can't get into it. The first half of this book is great, but following that it loses nearly all momentum and I HATE the agency that takes over the book.

Roadwork 1981

Another I haven't read :(

Cujo 1981 4/5

Decent book that is raised significantly by the strength of its ending.

The Running Man 1982

Yeah I know, I'm bad at reading the bachman books, even though I have the whole collection and Blaze....

The Gunslinger 1982 3/5

Strongly dislike this book, but it's bumped up for being part of the 10/5 Dark Tower series. It was written super young and it shows.

And last one for now...

Different Seasons 1982

I really need to read this one, especially since soon it will have had all four stories adapted into movies.

It is. I've done a list ranking before, and it's a shit ton of work I'm not doing again.

The Long Walk is amazing. Different Seasons as well, 4 great stories.

The Shining is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I really like the book as well.

It's a rating, not a ranking

Rage 1977 3/5

I've always wanted to read this one but apparently you can't buy it anywhere anymore. Not kindle or anything. Unless things have changed.

Not new, but it's collected in "The Bachman Books" which have tons of copies out there, look for the black hardcover. Or barring that, I'd be surprised if you can't find it online with an eyepatch for help.
