Horrorbooksguy 02/03/22 7:12:09 PM #25:	If it doesn't have to be a slasher, The Girl Next Door. I haven't and won't see the movie but the book is nausea inducing. If it does have to be a slasher, Scream 5 is by far the most violent in the series. If you want something older I've heard Just Before Dawn is good. Lots of surprises, and wrings more out of its backwoods setting than any regular slasher. The Slayer is fairly close. Its unique and compelling because its cast of characters consists of adults, not teenagers, and its atmosphere is drenched with this depressive mood. Madman isn't great, but its good and cheesy and the lighting makes it look like the forest is lit by neon lights. Great synth song, too. The Mutilator was the first slasher I saw, and it has a special place in my heart. Some really gruesome killings and great special effects by Mark Shostrom (of Videodrome, among others). Its not a slasher, but City of the Living Dead has lots of brutal killings and a plot that defies logic. Its great. --- Everything you love was always woke, and its less woke than it used to be, and that's why its not as good anymore, because its less woke.
