Don't act like you don't know of people who keep a gun in every room of their house, hell half of the people I work with sleep with one on their night stand. Stop defending no knock raids. His gun was legally owned, he had every right to have it in his possession, and he had every right to point it at people who he believed to be intruders seeing as how it was a no knock raid. Kick down my door when I'm asleep and half out of it and I'll go for my gun as well, difference is, I might live because I'm white.

You would think Police Departments would have learned their lesson after the death of Breonna Taylor about no knock raids and discharging their firearms in spaces where the bullets could easily punch through a wall and kill someone other than the person they are shooting at. Not only did these cops create a situation where killing this dude was an extremely likely possibility, but they then made it worse by shooting and putting everyone else in the nearby area at risk.

Someone died who did not have to.

If I hear someone enter my home uninvited I am going to point my gun and get ready to shoot if I need to. It's only a natural response. Once I see it's police officers I'll lower my weapon and surrender, but by then I'm probably dead just because I pointed my gun at who I assumed to be criminals. This is why no knock warrants should be unconstitutional nationwide. You should always announce you're a cop when entering someone's home.

Yup. Like most things police abuse, there was a legitimate place and cause for them, but they've been abused so heavily that we cannot trust police with the option.

I don't understand why no knock warrants are a thing. That must be dangerous for both the person in the house and the officers...

I'm not anti-gun at all, but in Canada guns aren't so ingrained into our culture that it is a regular occurrence for people to sleep with them. We, personally, keep our guns locked in our gun safe and unloaded.
