They could. But they could think it's serious. They could take photos. They might not want to leave. They might sell information to the media etc.

A prostitute has a risk of this too but it's less effort and money isn't an issue.

Honestly I get it. These guys are pro athletes who spend all of their free time perfecting their craft. They have little free time. Yea sure they can go to any club or bar and bang any chick there. But that more effort and time than just hitting up a reputable escort who they can just get straight to the point. Money is not an issue. If the person can provide a good time and maintain confidentiality, then its an obvious choice.
