Note that there are still a few hurdles to overcome before the ACT is fully invoked, but if it goes through it basically gives Trudeau 30 days of complete freedom to deal with the protest.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the never-used Emergencies Act to give his government enhanced authority in response to the anti-vaccine mandate protests and blockades gripping Canada.

The law will grant Mr Trudeau's government extraordinary powers for 30 days - including the power to prohibit public assembly, travel and the use of specific property.

The government could bar travel to or from specific areas - from Parliament Hill or major border crossings, for example. It could order the evacuation of people and personal property from certain areas, possibly using this power to clear out congested areas of protesters. And it could direct individuals and companies to render essential services, perhaps ordering tow-truck companies to lend their services and clear the roads of demonstrators and their vehicles.

But while Mr Trudeau's government may soon be granted an almost carte blanche to respond to the protests, there is no indication the prime minister will also seek military intervention.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said banks will be able freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the protests without any need for a court order.

Vehicle insurance of anyone involved with the demonstrations can also be suspended, she added.

She said they were broadening Canada's "Terrorist Financing" rules to cover cryptocurrencies and crowdfunding platforms, as part of the effort to clamp down on the protests.

That sucks. I overhear people giving support to them and it bums me out.

I had a coworker come in last Friday who made his way out of a nearby blockade and was like 'Trudeau has to go!' And I asked him 'but what did he do?' And he couldn't even answer. You just know they're going to take credit for releasing restrictions too.

About time Trudeau took some meaningful action. I like the idea of freezing their assets.

i dont disagree with you, thats why I said fuck em and their rights, you would think there would already be laws in the books to stop such people and their dangerous and unruly behavior but I guess if emergency action is required to crush these fascists than thats what should be done.
