There really isn't any more to it than that.

I was just talking about this with the bestie.

One thing I hate about being in special interests groups are the people who are new, say they are new, and ask a either or question. Then immediately get defensive when you and everyone else tell them the other is correct.

Example is this morning there was a guy asking if he should do 75% water changes in his aquarium every week and everyone is telling them hell no but he keeps saying BS to justify the decision he already made apparently

I'm going to try and make this not about work for once.

There's a vtuber I've followed for a number of years, and one of her isms when reading chat comments was to reply with "that's valid" or "you're valid". When starting to think about how important validation is, this really had a profound impact on me. Even saying something as simple as that (even if you don't agree with the person), it really makes the person like you as hell of a lot more than constantly ignoring them or denying their validation.

Also a huge motivator for entering relationships is the desire for validation. Finding someone who you can simply co-exist with is a very strong form of validation.

But I like your example of hobbies for this too. A number of years ago I was looking for my current wireless mechanical keyboard and those people were incredibly defensive when I was asking for advice. Now the keyboard isn't the best (actually I don't use it anymore) but it served its purpose and I will use it when I want to game, but don't want to be sitting upright to do so.

I only need God's validation.

Stouts are ales. Beer and weed guy is right.

Ales are produced with top fermenting yeasts and lagers are produced with bottom fermenting yeasts.

Stouts are made with top fermenting yeast, so it's an ale.

That's why I said "not really". Technically it is, but no one would ask for an ale when they mean a stout or vice versa. They're very distinct things.

So it's an ale. The only distinction is the use of dark malts but a stout is still an ale.

Also very few walk into bars and ask for their finest ale. In philly, you can just order a "lager" and get a yuengling though.
