I wish all hardware platforms had this level of utility. There's this really cool PS3 Homebrew which runs a ftp/web server on your PS3 and you can operate the console through it instead of the XMB and see things like CPU temperature and you can set custom fan speeds, launch games and all sorts of things.

Wish I had something like this on Switch. Maybe 10 years from now.

I think it's dumb that you need to hack a PS3 just to ramp up the fan to fix Sony's shitty-ass cooling.

I'm thinking of doing it once I get my CECHA01 back from being delidded but I don't want to lose out on what PSN access I could have, even if what little there is left worth exploring.

I have a CECH-20xxA and the automatic fan runs like 10% lower than it needs to, so I have it set to a constant 35% and it never gets anywhere near a dangerous level. If I were to run the automatic fan it would constantly go into the dangerous level before spinning up to "jet engine" level when it never needs to.

By the way the new CFWs do not lose you PSN access. You can actually freely enable/disable being able to access PSN as the firmware versions rarely at all change, and the latest firmware version has a CFW available. I guess it's the benefit of being a console that stopped support 5 years ago.
