$20 to take care of a virus problem that made my PC unbootable. FYI, just a random PC fix shop though.

I had an issue with one of my drives not reading at all. Like, my PC didn't even detect it. As I was just getting into the PC enthusiast market, I didn't know much about troubleshooting and diagnosing hardware issues. So, I took it to a local shop and left it there for the day.

I went back the next day, and the guy told me that the HDD was dead. So, I bought a new one, then took it home to install it. Still didn't read the drive. So, the drive wasn't the issue. Maybe power? I had a finite amount of molex connectors in my PC (good old molex and IDE cables), so I had to get a splitter so I could run power to my HDDs. Turns out one of the male connectors on the splitter died. Swapped it with another one, marked that one as dead, and it was ready to go. I returned the HDD that I had just bought and never went back.

Another time was when I was building a computer, but it refused to POST at all. I bought all the parts from NCIX, so I started a long series of e-mails with them to troubleshoot. I had no idea what the issue was, so instead of bringing it to a local PC shop to diagnose, I decided to send it back to NCIX for them to troubleshoot and repair.

They fought with it for a while, got it working, then sent it back. I can't remember what the issue was, but I want to say one of the metal pieces around the IO shield got into one of the ports and created a short. Could have also been bent pins on the motherboard. Can't remember.

Oh. Another time where I would get serious artifacting in my video games. I traced this to the video card, and opened up an RMA ticket with the manufacturer (it was still under warranty). They took it back, sent out an upgraded version (mine was no longer available), but the problem persisted. Turns out that one of the case fans seized in my computer, which was choking _everything_. No wonder the video card died as it did.

Yes and they told me that they wouldnt fix it. I dont remember what the issue was, but it was serious and they said they didnt fix whatever the issue is.

Theres an issue with the fans, I think. The computer will play like one minute of a video and then instantly turn itself off. Never could fix it.

I called them once, when my computer wouldn't boot past the BIOS, but they said they couldn't help with that.

No, as an aside I don't trust the geek squad to do much of anything in the event of a hardware or software failure. I've always repaired my own PCs and laptops.

I'm not opposed to turning in my phone for repair under warranty however.
