I've watched videos of the Russian people quitting their jobs, protesting in the streets; I see stock prices for some oil companies are literally down 90%+, but you can't buy any of it (so this may just be a fluke, especially with the Russian stock market still closed).

But on the other hand, I've watched some videos and read some comments from people inside of Russia saying nothing really changed much in their domestic prices of goods, and I've seen some interviews with (mostly older) Russian citizens that are praising Putin for his decision to invade Ukraine.

So...... are these sanctions really harming Russia?

Not when Biden is still buying oil off of Russia.

It's hurting the average citizen but not Putin or the ruling class.

It's going to take time for the pain to show up. Outside goods other than oil have slowed to a trickle. If your country can't trade for goods then things will eventually get squeezed pretty hard.

my friend operates a 15-20mil USD/year revenue firm from moscow. they are consultants for SAP integration -- they helped GazProm implement SAP (and her personal bonus alone was 6 figures lol, entire contract was over 5mil). She's fucked -- has accounts receivable from usa that she can no longer collect on.

she may lose her business.

and that means all her staff loses their jobs.

Just gotta hope that the ppl will blame Putin and Russian leaders instead of the West who Purin will blame it on.

they're starting to lose access to everything. imagine your virtual wallets stop working and all the methods you use to pay things no longer let you deposit or withdraw. imagine being forced to use physical cash instead because none of the machines at the store operate and accept anything.

I imagine hundreds of thousands of jobs mustve been lost already with so many businesses out. Thing is...look at places like Venezuela where its economy has also suffered due to sanctions, but people are still not trying to overthrow the government...probaby thanks to the military.

Russians have to see what their leadership is doing. Invading a country and trying to take it by force is unacceptable in this say and age.

once again read my topic and find one post that proved me otherwise. The one guy said we prepay for oil which is absurd. The point is we cut off their money and are still giving them money.
