Black Mold?

Been having discussions with my landlord about whether or not this is black mold. What do you all think?

Get a spray bottle put some water and bleach (more water than bleach) in it and spray it.

That looks like a burn mark.

I mean if you google black mold, you'll see it looks nothing like that.

This. My parent's basement foundation had black mold and it looked like something out of Resident Evil 7.

Plus there's no surrounding infestations so I would likely rule mold out.

It looks like water damage to me. Is it wet or soft to the touch?

That also looks off as a mold growth pattern. Doesnt appear to have a water source

Its the footing of a particle board cabinet. There was water damage to the floor last year and all of the kitchen cabinets and floor was replaced. They decided to keep this one piece because it 'still good'

The only thing you can do is get the mold test yourself and send it off.

Test it just to be sure. Don't have your landlord decide what it is based off of pictures lol

If you suggest this so he can get rid of it, if it is mold, that's a bad suggestion. Mold exposed to bleach grows back stronger than originally.

Vinegar. But yeah it doesn't look like mold

Actual black mold is neutralized by hydrogen peroxide. Spray it on, wait a few minutes, then wipe up the area with a wet paper towel.

Interesting I have not heard that. In my experience it has never grown back and I have dealt with it many times in different areas, but experience can vary. Very interesting on the vinegar part also, thank you for that.

If you zoom in, there are tons of cracks where water could have gotten in.

Maybe you can try using a sander to buff it off. What does it feel like to the touch?

Good to know most people dont think its mold. But water definitely got up there. There was was a slow water leak that last 5-6 weeks and trapped water beneath the floorboards.

Its was an awful situation which why om reluctant to accept my landlords opinion on this. They really pit things off in a bad way.

The material still feels hard but rhe dark spots run the bottom of that side too
