I remember back in the 1990s, it was a pretty big clash between those who think he did it and those who did not. These days, however, it seems like a vast majority of people believe that he did do it.

You're thinking of Mike Tyson where there was a larger conflict.

He's been arrested a lot over the years and the crimes were things that give the impression that yeah he definitely could easily murder people and lie about it. So there's little doubt.

When Trump gets acquitted the clowns say thats the end of it and he did nothing wrong, but for some reason OJ doesnt get that same benefit

You know why too. The same MFers who think Derek Chauvin did nothing wrong will jump at the chance to call OJ a murderer or MJ a child molester

You remember incorrectly.

Everyone knew he did it. The controversy at the time was how absolutely terribly the judge and prosecutors handled the case. Like, OJ tried to flee the country with a duffle bag full of money and a literal fake mustache and the jury weren't allowed to hear any of that lol.

Another example being the judge allowing the jury to walk through a staged version of the crime scene that made OJ look like a loving family man.
