Basically a second wallet to put your money, except most people probably wouldn't ever fill up their regular wallet to the max so it's just needlessly dividing your money into a place where you would need to manually grab it if you want it. My favorite thing gen 2 did is a minor thing, but it's really neat. You can headbutt wild Pokemon out of trees. Sometimes you'd find a Pokemon that's normally not around during the time of day it is. Like a Hoothoot at day, or a Butterfree at night.
